Clubs lose out on a lot of CL money by not qualifying. Could put some unwarranted pressure on a manager.

yep, I think Moyes falls into the Hodgson dept... not just results and archaic tactics, but the whole morale of the team and fans was just depressing...

Although we got off to a terrible start with BR (some called for his head), you could see the vision and progress as the season went on...

It'll be interesting to see if you go with a young up and comer or the big name... I would think you will have many to choose from, from either category..

The problem with rebuilding in the PL is that clubs are almost too results oriented at first.

I agree, but I'd be kind of surprised if United were that impatient with their next manager considering how other teams have looked this year. If Moyes looked like he knew what he was doing right now, I think that United fans and the club itself could get over their league position. At the beginning of the season, I don't think that anyone realized just how good some of the other Premier League teams were. The club has been pretty patient with him.

That's negligible though. I'd rather just not have to deal with Europa if I'm a big club.

No one ruins threads quite like TheOcean and SCH going at it. Y'all need your own season-long bitch fight thread.

Manchester United probably wouldn't want to suffer through another bad season even if the signs were pointing in the right direction and the style of play was steadily increasing.

If we saw vision and direction from Moyes than this year wouldn't be an issue.

If they were to hire Klopp, I think they'd probably finish 4-7 next year and people would want him gone as well, but they'd be so much better off in the long run.

I think any educated fan would know to give Klopp time. He has proven results.

I'll echo everyone else in here and say that if Klopp was hired and United contended for a Champions League spot (not even the title) in the first couple seasons, fans would be patient with him because he has a proven track record of success against big clubs.

it's (part of) why no one is saying mourinho is going to get fired for 3rd or 4th and no trophy, while avram and di matteo get canned. (dammit, this narrative doesn't work because of ancelloti :/ )

Which, in retrospect, was probably a silly decision. Those Ancelotti teams were offensively awesome, and if he had players like Hazard and Oscar, who knows what heights that team could have reached. I think he couldn't live down the ignominy of losing to a Mourinho coached Inter, who were one of the best teams of the past decade.
