It's getting there, but not yet (in my opinion of course).

Would it be easier to put them in Tiers perhaps?

You've got the UPL way too high.

it seems like people have been making a case of late for the russian premier league to move into that 5-6 range... of course not that 7 is too far from that, but i feel like it's a league on the rise.

It definitely is. My rankings are almost completely based on last season since this season has barely started. Portuguese league could drop some more, but I'll wait to see how they do in the CL. Honestly, Ligue 1 might be too high on my list but PSG is keeping them in the #5 spot.

1a. EPL
1b. La Liga
2. Bundesliga
3. Serie A
4. Ligue 1
5. Primeira Liga
6. Russian Premier League
7. Brasileiro
8. Eredivisie
9. Liga MX
10. MLS (for now...)

Changed some around. Liga MX is ahead of MLS because of recent CONCACAF CL finishes.

I know nothing about the Ukranian League, so they're out for me. I can't think of a big team or a big player in that league.

I also think that Brazil has a bit more talent than the Dutch league because of the rise of Brazilian wonderkids and MLS-like returning legends.

(And, yes, I cheated by putting eleven. But I can't choose between the top two. They're equal strength in my eyes.)

Oh wait, you're serious?

The SPL is below the following leagues:

Ukranian League
Belgian League
Turkish League
Superleague Greece
Danish League
Argentinian League

Maybe behind the Austrian League

Looks good until you put MLS at 10.

I always forget about the Argentinian league...

If you would have asked me 6 months ago, I would have put La Liga #1. But they put 0 teams into the CL final, they have lost a ton of talent in the past couple years and the EPL consistently puts more teams into the round of 16, quarter-finals and finals (over the past decade). In the past 10 years, La Liga, the EPL and Serie A each has 3 CL trophies.

Plus, Real Madrid have 1 win out of their first 4 matches this year, and Ronaldo looked utterly miserable against Sevilla.

Shakhtar and Dynamo Kyiv are both excellent clubs. (there is an awesome book titled "Dynamo" about Kyiv if you are looking for a soccer read).

Ah, yes, Kiev and Shakhtar. Still wouldn't put the league as a whole as high, but those are two very good teams.

The anti-SPL bias on here is amazing. The Turkish, Greek, Danish, and Belgian leagues are complete shite. The Ukrainian League, although it has a couple of teams which are on the level of a Celtic or a Spartak, is well below the quality of the other leagues you listed in the list quoted above and has absolutely horrendous pitches.

Just look at the rosters of EPL clubs. Sunderland, Wigan, Southampton, Reading, Liverpool, just to name a few, are full of SPL failures. And did you forget the terrible time Pool had of qualifying against fricking Hearts? I'm beginning to agree with Jed, to a degree. Outside of the EPL and Bundesliga, this board is extraordinarily ignorant of worldwide soccer.

Those two teams are better than any two teams from most leagues outside of the top 5.
