Those two teams are better than any two teams from most leagues outside of the top 5.

Proving my point.

Without Rangers, the SPL falls to outside my Top 10. Celtic is a really good team, and there are some solid top half teams, too.

I wouldn't put them below Greece or Ukraine or any of those others (I'd take Celtic over Dynamo Kiev or Olympiakos)...but I give the nod to leagues with a bit more star power (MLS, Brazil, Liga MX) with Rangers now in the third division. Took a chunk out of the overall strength of the league.

I'd put them anywhere from 12-14 right now.

Eh, Porto/Sporting, Ajax/PSV and CSKA/Spartak would give that Ukraine combo for their money IMO.

And did you forget the terrible time Pool had of qualifying against fricking Hearts?

Did you even watch those ties? The lineups that Pool put out were horrible......and they advanced. You by your own admission declared the SPL a one team league. So if other leagues have more than two good teams, they should be ranked higher. The SPL needs Rangers.

Due to an own goal and the ref blowing full time too quickly in the away tie. Hearts should have advanced. Just like Chelsea should have gone out to Napoli.

The EPL is a one team league. La Liga is a two team league. Portugal is a one team league. Italy is now a one team league.

No, the Rangers-Celtic stranglehold on the European positions and the arms race between them is what put the SPL in the shape it is. Without Rangers, there is no need for Celtic and Rangers to poach the talent that the Motherwells of the league create. The opening up of a European place gives money to the lower clubs. 5 years without Rangers will see a dramatic rise in the quality of the SPL.

Of course, because I posted that, you will all not read it and claim I'm an idiot.

I don't have a problem with that. You actually have an argument other than 'Bhoy likes the SPL, it must be shite!!!'.

All of these leagues have teams beyond what you claim that would win the SPL for fun. Not a good argument.

And I'm absolutely certain teams in those leagues would also win the MLS, Ukrainian, Belgian, Greek, and Danish leagues in a walk.

They could, however take the top 3 from MLS and they win the SPL. That's the point. I don't know enough about the other leagues, but the knowledgeable posters on here tend to agree.

No, they don't. And it's laughable that you are even attempting this argument.

Those posters know about the EPL and nothing else (except for a couple Bundesliga fans).

I love Celtic and frequently go watch them at Finns with the rest of the ex-pats here in Nola.

I also have no problem admitting the SPL is absolutely terrible. Both Shakhtar and Kiev are better than Celtic and Rangers, but then again Rangers are no longer in the SPL, so you're looking at one internationally competitive squad versus two. Ukraine > Scotland.

One of the top 3 would win the SPL. Celtic is the only respectable team and I'm confident that we could get one that would win the title.

I don't think you know much about the board after your banning. There are quite a few guys that know other leagues better than the EPL.

I'll have more time to argue tomorrow - studying for an exam right now. Donetsk and Kyiv are two strong teams, year in and year out.

You didn't even name the best 2 teams in Portugal, the Netherlands or Russia.

Please don't flatter Bhoy. Ukraine > SPL. He'll combat this by calling me, and anyone who agrees with me, dumb and will claim to be the only knowledgeable poster on European matters.

Outside of the EPL and Bundesliga, this board is extraordinarily ignorant of worldwide soccer.

He lost all credibility by claiming Hearts are better than Pool. I'm sorry, but that has to be one of the stupidest statements in the history of the Soccer Board. I'm kind of in shock someone who claims to know so much would actually make that assertion.

Hearts aren't better than Pool. Napoli is also not better than Chelsea. However, both Hearts and Napoli played better than Liverpool and Chelsea over their ties.

So Napoli played better in the first leg, but shite the bed in the second leg, and no one can say Napoli played better. Impossible.

The thread is about what league is better. Your retort to the assertion that EPL>SPL is that Hearts should have won against Liverpool. Since we're talking about what league is better, and you used that to support your argument, I can see no other conclusion for your point other than Hearts are better than Pool.
