he actually contribute tomorrow?

Pulisic is definitely talented but tomorrows extremely important game doesn't seem the place for his first appearance.

Klinsmann is definitely batshit, but I don't think that he is batshit enough to worry about cap tying a player in what is essentially a must win game

With Jurgy in charge, he'll probably start in goal.

Jurgy decided we needed extra centerback depth, so he brought the kid in.

This isn't about cap tying a player.

I get that Pulisic has a Croatian passport, but this isn't a case where he is thinking one or the other. Before Dortmund, the kid and his parents lived in America all of their lives. He's 100% American and won't be representing anyone else. We don't have to worry about cap-tying him tomorrow.

If I had to guess, he got the call up just to get that first feel of how the senior team camp works and meet all the players and coaches. Now, if the outcome is decided by the 75-80th minute, we'll probably sub him on to get his feet wet.

If all goes well, he'll be contributing by the September qualifiers and the hex (...should we get that far).

I mean, the kid came on as a second half sub in a tie game in the midst of a Bundesliga title race for his Dortmund debut. I know chemistry is important but let's be honest, it doesn't even matter with us because half the team is playing a different position each match anyway. It doesn't take some football wizard to have a brick first touch, panic, and hoof it up in the general direction of Clint Dempsey, which is all our midfielders do anyway. Forget cap tying, he actually has the mind and ability to create chances

He is 17, right? Can he even be cap tied at that age?

We could sub on a newborn and he'd be captied, as long as it's in a FIFA sanctioned senior team match.

Interesting. It must be youth teams where guys like Zalalem didn't get cap tied. Thanks for the heads up.

The rules are a little weird.

For example, had John Brooks not come on for an injured Besler against Ghana (and assuming he wouldn't have played v. Portugal, Germany and Belgium), he still would not have been cap tied to the US despite traveling with the team to Brazil.

Would it be a problem to have CRon's six year old running around the field with Henry's kid, should we be up by 6 goals, against Trinidad and Tobago at home?

Yes he is. Ask yourselves, how many guys in our current state could even make the bench at Dortmund? The answer is very few, if any.
