Who do we partner with him? M Robinson does fine but I still want to see JAB get another shot and possibly Long?

Gregg won’t pick him but CCV by most accounts has been the best CB in Scotland this year and is reportedly drawing interest from the likes of Leicester and Wolves. How he’s below some of these guys on the CB pecking order is beyond me. He’s got pace and power and can’t be any worse playing from the back than the MLS brigade that’s prone to a cheap giveaway leading directly to a scoring opportunity nearly every match

Full disclosure I have not seen CCV play in a few years but he was much worse than Brooks, Zim, Long and Miles with the ball at his feet

Have only watched his highlights but he seems to have truly elevated his game. I think in order of best CB's CCV has to be top 5 right now behind Brooks, Zimmerman, and Robinson.

What the hell has happened to Miazga? I know Alaves is terrible but has he really completely disappeared from contention for a spot.

CCV

I think we see him and a lot more new faces and experimentation in Nations League and June.

COVID fricked the cycle up, causing qualifying to be of a sprint than a marathon and Gregg was hellbent on using Gold Cup and Nations League to narrow the player pool and rely mainly on those guys for qualifying. Now that those high stakes matches are out of the way and the job is (basically) done, he can expand the pool again this summer and fall to see if any one else can earn a shout to be at the World Cup.

Here’s my question: is Miles Robinson the nailed on starter to partner with Zimmerman?

I don’t think his starting spot is locked in, but I do think his spot on the final roster is locked in.

I personally want brooks to have another chance and think a healthy Richards could be a starting CB next to zimmerman.

Dest, Zimmerman, Jedi in my mind are clearly WC starters in the back if healthy.

I’d argue top 3 CBs are Zimmerman, M. Robinson, and Richards. The question is who is #4 and will WC roster numbers expand to suggest a 5th CB should be included. For CB 4, I think it’s a battle between EPB, Brooks, CCV, and Long. Long doesn’t look fully back to me, but Gregg favors him it seems.

Fully healthy and this team can beat anyone in the world. I don’t think we’ve ever seen an A squad that actually has all our best guys on the field at the same time.

I think Miazga has stayed the same but younger players have come up and others have elevated their game.

He’s now maybe our 8th or 9th best central defender

1. Zimmerman
2. Chris Richards
3. Miles Robinson
4. Brooks (despite what Gregg thinks)
5. Aaron Long
6. CCV
7. Mark McKenzie
8. Erik Palmer-Brown
9. Miazga

People will laugh, but a healthy Jozy makes this roster

It sucks Jozy never got a chance to shine in World Cup. He didn’t do much in 2010 despite a lot of playing time. He was thisclose to scoring a fluke break away game winning goal against England in the 2nd half.

Then he got hurt two seconds into 2014. Then the US didn’t make it in 2018.

I thought Jozy was going to be the truth after the 2009 Confederations Cup.

Meh, he never scored, but he was arguably the best player in the Algeria match and got the assist on Bradley's goal in the Slovenia match.

Ironically, that 2010 World Cup was the last time he played an entire tournament without injury.

2011 Gold Cup - Injured in tournament
2014 World Cup - Injured in first game of tournament
2015 Gold Cup - Pulled off the roster after group stage because of injury
2016 Copa America - Missed tournament due to injury
2017 Gold Cup - Healthy but was only called up for knockout round
2019 Gold Cup - Was limited in tournament due to injury
