I love getting the deal done for Doherty early. From what I can tell he adds a bit of creativity in the final third that we have been seriously missing. Can’t argue with Aurier’s effort each game, but the same overlapping run and same type of cross all game long just wasn’t working.
We need to turn our attention to making a decision on Ndombele. There is no doubt he has talent, but we can’t afford to have a $50-$70 million player sitting on the bench at 200k a week. If we’re going to challenge for top 4 either Ndombele has to start or we need to sell and bring someone in that can contribute immediately.
Grealish, Sabitzer, or Van De Beek would be solid options if we decide to move on.

Was actually a really clever way to deal with those tweets. So so good.
ETA: it does sort of seem to be a bizarrely English trolling method though, and I just don’t get it. You see it a lot from English twitter where one fan base tries to troll the other with a player’s texts favoring a boyhood favorite club, or pics of them wearing the other teams jerseys. There’s that one photo of pulisic as a little kid wearing a united jersey outside of old trafford that Manchester fans constantly post trying to troll Chelsea fans, and I just don’t get it. I can’t recall ever really coming across that sort of tactic in American online sports fandom. I just can’t imagine getting mad about something like that

So Is Doherty going to replace Aurier as the starter? I'm trying to figure out where he fits in with Jose's system and wasn't sure if that was the plan.

Yep. Pretty much like for like.
Doherty better in the final 3rd.
Aurier is probably a better flat out defender, athletic-wise. However, Doherty should be much more consistent and not have the rash challenges/decisions that plague Aurier.
