Altidore is a pretty complete striker IMO.

He has good speed.
Good touch.
Good finishing.
Good heading.
Knows how to hold up, can pass well.
Decent 1v1.

I loved our Jozy/Davies pairing. So much swag. The loss of that combo might be a greater loss than our beloved StuBear.

I hope a Boyd/Jozy tandem can bring the swag back to the USMNT.

#bringbackUSMNTswag

Also, I agree that BB was way more astute than JK. JK routinely has teams with solid talent but can't seem to get results in competitive matches, where BB got more results with much less talent.

We haven't gone forward as a team under Jurgen. If anything we've gone backwards. That is frustrating.

That and we need a midfield that can actually get him the ball in good areas. Something we havent done in quite a while

When we start talking about how good Johnson looked (compared to the rest of our team), you know we're in trouble.

I think GAM looked good against Honduras. I actually think our attacking and midfield will be good...our defense just looks to be all screwed up.

This.

I get that the defenders available are FAR from optimum, but it's the cards we've been dealt, time to suck it up and deal with it. We've got plenty of talent to get 3 pts vs CR, a draw in Azteca will be a much much greater challenge though. I think our MF and Fwds are as good as we can get(sans Landy). I like that JK called in Shea and Run DMB for some width, now I just pray that he actually uses them for their purpose. And like someone else already said, please please please Jurgy, don't play a MF of Jones/Bradley+ another DM..

He looked good for the Sounders this past week as well. Of course, he's actually player striker, instead of wide midfield.

Shocking that players play better in their normal positions.

Anyone remember off the top of their head the last time Jozy scored for the usmnt? I just checked and couldn't believe it.

Johnson scored twice in the box on headers in his first start for the US in LONGGGGG time and saved our asses against A&B. I'm not sure why Klinsy refuses to have a 4-4-2 with Jozy and Eddie up top. I would cry tears of joy if we saw this.

Edit: I'm always ready to see Johnson (F.) and Chandler play wing, but he hasn't done that since the Slovenia game for Johnson, I think, and the Poland game for Chandler.

Probably outside the box rocket v Canada in Gold Cup. Then left the game with an injury.

ETA: I was wrong.

Nov. 15, 2011 against Slovenia. Point being its been 1 year and 4 months since our team's best forward (excluding Dempsey) has scored. That just ain't right.

From the looks of this quote, looks like Mo Edu at CB.

You can look at Mo in different ways, which is a big plus for us. He was successful [in central defense] in August in Mexico. We know he can play on the side as well. He can play any role in midfield. I have to give him a big compliment because he worked his way back into this group after his move from Stoke. … [In Turkey], he is sharp, he is in rhythm.”

As long as old lead legs Goodson doesn't start, I'm fine with throwing one of the MLS guys into the fire. He's been our most atrocious defender for at least two years now. At least Tony Beltran will have experience marking Saborio from Real Salt Lake training.

Jason Kreis should be on standby notice in Denver for a potential Kenny Powers, "You're fricking out, I'm fricking in." halftime incompetent manager substitution.

I will be shocked if we dont play some form of a 4-4-2...that will give our inexperienced back line a good bit of cover. I am not extremely concerned with Costa Rica...we can beat them at home. We are going to have to pull a chelsea in order to get anything from Azteca

You're going to see at least one of Edu/Jones/Beckerman.. probably 2. That back line is way too inexperienced to not have a defensive midfielder playing.
