It doesn't really matter. It's more about generating revenue than it is about quality of competition.

I tend to agree on this. If we didnt have the Sterling money, I would have probably not liked the Benteke move, but with cash on hand to get him, it wasnt as bad. Im kinda hoping for an all Belgium front at some point, with Origi and Benteke up top. When glassman returns, it almost turns into a headache with the possibilities.

So much lean. Haven't seen Benteke lean yet, is it official?

And I really don't think we overpaid that much for him. He's the youngest, most proven goal scorer in the EPL, with by far the most upside. With service from guys like Cou and Firminio and Lallana, he will bang them in. We need a finisher and thats what he will do.

I'm excited. I've always liked Benteke. I think he will be excellent for us.

But then again, I thought the same about Balo LOL.

i just hope we can make it through the early away games in respectable shape. if we can do that, then it's going to be a lot of fun this year to be a red.

I don't understand fans' concern with how much is payed for a player. It's not your money. Let the accountants figure it out. Also, FSG aren't really known for splashing money around. (Except for last year)

We needed goals. Options were limited for us with no CL. Aston Villa didn't have to sell. We had to pay full ask. If he scores 15-20 goals £32.5 won't matter. If he sucks would it really sting any less if we had paid £20 for him?

Oh and, we're gonna win the league!

Bentenke looks huge compared to our usual leans.

I feel like you contradict yourself here - we care about where the money goes because our owners don't splash it around like Oil Sheiks. When we have a limited resource compared to some of our competition, we have to make every dollar count. We can't waste money on guys that do not fit our system.

Considering we almost went into administration before FSG bought the team, yes I do care how much we spend and pay for players

I can see how that looks contradictory. What I mean is, FSG don't splash money around; so when they do pony up that means they feel the player is worth it. If they feel the player is worth it, who am I to question it? Most of our best players we got on the cheap. I'm ok if we overspend a little on a desperate need ie goals.

Our fans are constantly complaining about Ayre dragging negotiations out to the point Tottenham or ManU swoop in and get the player. This window we have gone in and gotten the players the club wants at fair prices. I would be sick to my stomach if we were trying to negotiate Benteke down to £25 and ManU got him.

You make a good point, but as I said above we can't have it both ways. We can't nickel and dime teams to death in negotiations and be upset when we lose out on players and also complain that we payed too much when we do sign them.

I think we have done awesome work this window. Even taking the Sterling money out of it I think we have gotten real quality players for a very fair price.

Seeing reports we're done for the summer, unless we sign another LB, which I doubt that we do.

Any ideas on starting lineups?

Clyne-Skrtel-Sakho-Moreno
Lucas
Hendo-Milner
Firmino-Cou
Benteke?

Guess it depends on what type of formation Rodgers plans on running. I really think Ibe is going to be hard to keep on the bench as the season progresses. We need his pace

I'm excited about the creativity and striking prowess in the final third. Benteke should benefit greatly from playing with guys like Cou and Firmino. I just like what Ibe brings to the table and think you have to find a spot for him eventually.

I can't wait for this season to start. The shitshow from the usmnt has me clamoring for Saturday mornings

I think it's because..

a) We have a limited amount of financial resources, comparatively.. So, to break the bank on one player is a big risk and would be hard to recover from.. Blowing the Torres money set us back IMO.. It's not like we'll be selling a Suarez/Sterling every summer..

I agree on the penny pinching when it comes to a few million.. but I think many aren't 100% convinced with Benteke, hence the concern..

b) Though it's not our money, it is our club.. and nobody likes the feeling of getting fleeced or ripped off..

Danny @ Fenway

ETA: I thought he was going to boot it over the monster at the end and announce he would be back for Stoke
