Yup. 3 pts is 3 pts. Especially important to win this one with away matches at City and Tottenham looming.

I agree about SOTON. Tadic was immense.

Add Ward-Prowse to that list as well. Their passing seemed much more crisp than ours. Lots of high pressing. But 3 is 3.

Hopefully, that's the last match Lucas and Johnson are starters... Just not good enough anymore.

I'd rather take the growing pains of our youngsters...

Also, I'd take Wanyama while we're taking their players... He was good too!

Seeing reports that Falcao may be open to a year loan, if RM don't buy him outright... Apparently, Monaco won't loan to RM, but will to another team...

Hmmm, he's a number 9 and not adaptable to playing wide... Also, would almost be undroppabe.. Would force us to play a diamond or Studge out wide.

Also, seeing some more talks of Balotelli on loan, too...

Sturridge... 36 goals in 50 matches for LFC...

Flight delayed 3+ hours (and the AC is out)

My thoughts -

Mignolet is very far from any of our problems. Coverage other than Davis would be nice, but Mig is becoming a very very good shot stopper. He's improved with the ball at his feet. He still seems to make one weird play a game, such as the strange punch/miss issue he had today, but I think he's becoming a very very good keeper.

As organized as our defense looked in the first half, they were the exact opposite for most of the second. I wonder if Lucas and/or Gerrard didn't have their normal legs for the second? Way too much time and space for guys in the middle of the field just outside our box without quick enough or physical enough pressure from anyone. That an Skyrtel marking no one and leaving a ton of space on the goal.

I think the 4-2-3-1 could work, but I'm not certain Lucas and Gerrard can do it together.

Manquillo is up and down. Hope he keeps learning and that we don't have to rely upon him the next few weeks. Johnson is just hard to watch at times.

Our offense had great ideas but terrible execution. Have to expect the execution to improve and I think we'll see plenty of goals. I do wonder how much trouble we'll have breaking some teams down.

Hendo's pass

Lambert didn't do much of anything...except that he kept the possession alive on the winning goal.

All in all - 3 points but plenty of room for improvement. Can't wait to see a few more of the new guys.

It is known. The game completely changed when Allen came on.

I hate to say it, but if we are going to take this team to the next level, we need a quality DM... Gerrard still has quality, but he leaves the back line exposed... Lucas is passed it.. He is a step slow all the time.

Maybe it can be Can (but he may be too young and disciplined at this time). I'd like someone to be brought in, but would Rodgers have the stones to drop Stevie? That's one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations...

I thought he did fine... Looked good at times and had a few rough moments, but that's not too unexpected with a 20 yr old playing his first match in the EPL... Tadic was a handful..

Will be interesting to see what happens at RB once Moreno is ready to go... I'm assuming he'll be splitting time with Glen, probably ready to be the full time starter next season of he progresses as planned.

A few things:

Mingolet was very good. From what I hear, his only two gaffs were a result of one of the windiest days in recent memory at Anfield. Makes sense because both errors were when the ball was sent high into the box.

Manquillo was hot and cold, but the difference I see is that even when he got beat he recovered to at least put himself in a defensible position. That is something Johnson never does. I was impressed considering the circumstances of his start.

Lucas and Gerrard will not work. We knew this already. The lack of pressing in the midfield was clear and evident. Without Henderson we would've been run over. Joe Allen is wonderful off the bench for us. The game immediately turned on a dime.

Sterling is turning into a superstar. God damn the kid is good.

He had a lot of bright spots (hence the ups in my comments) but was also faked out completely twice and also tried to make a run when possession wasn't secure which opened things up behind him.

Against city these things would cost us a goal. I think his future is good - we will just have to live with some mistakes. I'm hoping we don't have to play him against top teams as often this year. Of course is the choice is between him and a disinterested glen Johnson then I might have to pick him.

Manquillo was golden compared to the utter shi** that is Johnson. The goal was due to Lucas ball watching. The midfield tightened up the moment Allen got on. I hope Moreno has some good training sessions, the Scouse Cafu recovers fully and we never have to see Johnson in a red shirt again.

And when Lallana gets fit I want to see a midfield of Gerrard, Hendo and Lallana rotating with Allen and Can. No Lucas in that midfield anymore. It's been long enough.

It's unfortunate, but I completely agree. 3 years ago who would have thought we would be saying this?

3 years ago, Lucas looked good in a team that was utter dross or not performing to their level.

I have never really been a fan of Lucas and I honestly don't blame him. I blame it on Rafa. When Lucas came in he was a genuine b2b MF who had won the golden boot in Brazil. I thought he'd do great. But Rafa didn't have the resources to buy a world class defensive MF and Gerrard was at his prime, in a partnership with Torres. So he decided to convert Lucas into one. I've never felt like it has worked. One of the few things I blame Rafa for. Lucas for his part has been a model professional.

I wasn't disagreeing, just putting in my 2 cents... I'd almost rather take my lumps with him in the side.. He'll only get better

Tadic is gonna give a lot of fullbacks problems.. He was very good..

I saw the first goal by Sterling and then didnt get to watch much. Glad I didnt haha Sounds like we struggled in the 2nd half, but I'll take the 3 points to start the season. I have a feeling with so many additions in key roles, it will take a little time for the team to gel, but once they do, they could be unreal. That Sturridge/Sterling front is going to be a good one. I'm really excited for this team, just hope we can figure out the positions shuffle sooner rather than later.

Also hearing reports that we agreed a fee with PSG for Lavezzi, and that Ian Ayre is on a flight to Amsterdam. Bakkali?

Could be Eto'o. His agent is supposed to be in Amsterdam negotiating. I'd much rather Bakkali or Fisher.

Or maybe he's just gone to Amsterdam to smoke some ku** and to get laid. He's done well this window. Maybe taking an early vacay.
