Well Liverpool has made it clear only cash with make Sterling leave.

You guys don't want a 29 year old injury prone and lazy striker.

Sounds like he would fit right in.

If that isn't tailor made for a new coach midseason I don't know what is.

Time to get everyone's thoughts on Benteke.

At this point it seems more likely than not that he'll be at Anfield next year. There's just too much smoke there.

I've seen a lot of "meh" in regards to signing him, but I'm not really sure why. He's a dangerous striker with a good build, a lot of power, and enough pace to make defenders uneasy.

If not Benteke, I ask who a legitimate target would be that we could sign? I think we'd all prefer a Lacazzette but that doesn't seem to be feasible. I for one would love to see Benteke at Anfield. He should only improve and he's already a good player.

I was going to come on here and really how worried I was in our ability to sign a class striker this window. I just don't se us reeling in a true top shelf striker and I believe that Benteke might just be the best we can get. I agree that he has qualities that we can use I just don't want to overpay for him.

Sorry my typing sucks, riding in the hull of a small boat and it's kicking my arse. Forgot to ask, is anybody really buying the Firmino talk? I just can't see us outbidding United.

According to Barrett, we're put off by Benteke's buy out. And we're interested in Firmino, but I think that's still pretty premature now.

I like Benteke more than Firmino. Benteke is a pure forward. Cou already brings to the table what Firmino can

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of England under-19 international Joe Gomez from Charlton Athletic.

The defender, 18, was linked with a host of Premier League sides but has opted for a move to Anfield, where he is reported to have signed a five-year contract.

While they can play similar positions, they are different players...

He is much more of a goal scorer and has been playing as a striker for Brazil.. not a classic #9 by any stretch, but I would prefer him to Benteke (especially given their price tags)

Latest Rumors...

City will come back with a £50m bid (45m + add ons)

Interest in Firmino is genuine, especially if we sell Sterling, hopefully we can get him for around £20m since it seems like United's interest may have dropped off a little.

We're in for Illaramendi for about £15m according to Marca

Don't think we want to pay £15m for Clyne, shooting for closer to 11 or 12. I'd like for us to just get it done, but after they bought Soares, it seems like they're prepared to let Clyne go so they may just take what they can get for him as opposed to letting him walk for nothing.

At striker, the latest names we've been linked with are Bacca and Llorente. Not a huge fan of either, but at least Bacca would fit in here better than Benteke or Llorente.

Kovacic rumors have cooled off a lot and there doesn't seem to be much legitimate smoke to him coming here

Think that's the gist of a lot of the talk that's taken place over the past few days

I hate the thought of Llorente and it makes zero sense..

Well I'm not in the room doing the negotiating so they might think Soton isn't very firm on their valuation. And to be fair, we did pretty much the same with Moreno and Sevilla last year and ended up waiting them out getting him for around £12m I think when they wanted between £16-20 if I remember right. But yea, we've also been burned too many times recently in this situation.

And agree on Llorente. He doesn't really fit, he's like 31 now I think. Just doesn't make sense at all outside of Juventus loaded with strikers now and they're gonna need to shed some dead weight. I'd take the young guy they have, name's escaping me right now, in a hot second though.

yeah, obviously this criticism is surface level and I have no insight into the dealings...

I'm just poised for Chelsea (just an example) to come in, in the 11th hour and just plunk down the £15mm because they want him.. I could understand if they were asking £20mm... I really hope we get him!

I was actually thinking of Dybala but yea Morata's a good one too. Can't remember if we were really in for him when he left Madrid but he would've been a great buy after Suarez left
