i just described his "context"

His context is that he's far and away better than nearly every other 20 year old out there.

Depending on what the price is, I agree. The sell on clause doesn't help that situation. I wouldn't sell for less than 40.

I'm starting to think that Balo may stay. No one that wants him will be able to afford him. If we are paying half his wages, we might want to keep him and see if the risk pays off?

Of course a loan may show he has transfer value - but.i doubt anyone in England, Spain or Germany will spend more than a couple of million on him. So there is no value to that, other than getting some of his wages off the books.

I don't see anything paying off as it seems that BR refuses to play him. Any value that he does have now, will only plummet even more if he sits on the bench all year.

anyone believe the Tevez nonsense? I think i read somewhere about getting him for something like 10M, seems a little too good to be true

If Tevez is available to us for 10M, Chelsea, Tots or Arsenal will sign him for 15M just to spite us.

Anyone think Pool makes a play on Remy again? With Falcao heading to Chelsea, it sounds like his opportunities to contribute will be equally low, and although Chelsea doesnt want to sell him, they are entertaining interest from West Ham and Crystal Palace.

Have we claimed anyone off the waiver wire today?

So, Joe Gomez. He's an 18 year old defender, who can play midfielder. Likely would be loaned back to Charlton for next season. In other words, your typical Brendan Rodgers/FSG type of signing.

Thoughts?

Looks like a promising prospect with a lot of potential but I wouldn't expect him to contribute to the senior squad next year

that seems to be the sentiment about pretty much everyone on our fricking roster....

maybe it's just me, but i'm growing weary of getting 19 and 20 year olds with "potential", while 24 and 25 year olds sign and contribute to other clubs right away... i mean, yeah the future, but what about the present?

I like the signing after reading about him over the past few days... I don't think he'll help the first team immediately, but I always account for 1 or 2ofmthese each year...m as long as it doesn't impact our first team recruitment, it's all good...

Seeing reports (Barrett, etc) that Man City are offering £40mm for Sterling now... 35 + add ons... We are set to reject it...

Man, that is mighty tempting IMO... Wish we could get Jovetic in the deal... Even Dzeko would be nice..

Fixture list is out

starting with stoke

Have to go right back to stoke. Should be interesting. Not too bad but of course we don't know how Europa will fit in. October might be our toughest month epl wise. Christmas is easier than usual.

Eta - never mind - first seven away games...
Stoke
Arsenal
Man UTD
Everton
Tottenham
Chelsea
Man City.

Bye bye Brendan. better be ready to go right out of the gate. Let's have klopp on speed dial.

I would like closer to 45 or so - meaning 40 now and 5 in add ons. Remember we will only clear - what 34 or so of that 40?

Beyond that, if you have confidence that we will win silverware, I'm not above letting him play out his contract. There's a chance you change his mind, 2 yeas of sterling will likely be better than the 35m we spend on a crap player that never pans out, and we will save on wages and there will be a potential tribunal fee. It's not the best- but it can make a certain amount of sense. It all depends upon what you think we would do with 35m.

Add ons mean frick all on a squad that size. Especially considering his age. I hope our front office gives them the Agincourt salute.

BUT, Jovetic or Dzeko.....now you're speaking my language.

I wish. Dude could be top class for us. He's like a non crocked Sturridge.

We were retarded not to sign him in the first place.

Failed medical? WTF was up with that.
