Any of you guys that follow US Soccer know anything about Brooks Lennon? We are apparently on the verge of signing him if he can get a work permit...

That's weird, because I thought he was already playing in one of the LFC youth teams?
I don't really know anything about him though. I don't follow USS like I used to.

Pearce is reporting that we have started talks with Lille to bring back Origi... willing to pay p to £3mm...
Not sure that is really the answer, but whatever...

My biggest fear is that with him being so young that he will just be the another N'Gog, Borini, or Aspas.
Also, Sterling is set to sign a big extension. Somewhere around £100k/wk.

Hopefully, when DS gets back.. he stays healthy and he is really not needed to make an impact...
I still think Balo can make an impact and just needs to get that goal or two to get some confidence going... He was really unlucky against Man U and got himself in really dangerous positions..
If we continue to play a back 3, not really sure a striker is a priority... Id concentrate on DM, GK and CB.... Shaqiri is relatively cheap and with Raheem needing a rest and Lallana possibly out for a bit, i wouldn't be opposed, but not too concerned if he goes to Inter..
Damn, i wish our match was today and not tomm...

Neto confirmed he won't return to fio. I know there are rumors of our interest but I have to think we are not first choice at this point.
That's a good gerrard article and it makes some valid points - but the best are always defined by their championships. Stevie has some good medals - but I believe the Bpl title to be one of the hardest for a single player to be responsible for. We have likely had just two or so squads over his time at liverpool where you could say that we had the most talented or second most talented team. And as much as I liked Rafa, he struggled at getting his players to perform at a top level on a consistent league basis. That's why he was able to win the champ league and never the league.

I know it's not like they don't mean anything but my favorite part of that is the argument, who was a better quarterback? Marino or Dilfer?

is liverpool really interested in kieran westwood?
best GK in the championship IMO

I haven't heard anything about LFC chasing Westwood.
Lallana out for the next month with a thigh injury.

I saw a few tweets that he (Westwood) turned LFC down, but haven't seen the regular LFC ITK journos report it..
IMO, Neto is bargain shopping...
frick me with Lallana... IMO, that would have me more open to Shaqiri (I do like that he's left footed, too) or giving Markovic more time in the front 3... Studge can't get back quick enough!!

DiMarzio is reporting Suso has agreed to join Milan in June when his contract runs out...
Thats a shame we won't get a penny for him, since he's a fine young talent.. but, for whatever reason, he just didn't appear to be in the plans for Rodgers...

No thoughts on yesterday's game?
It's amazing to me they we brought in lambert and Balo - two guys who in no way for the system we ran last year - I can understand bringing in one of them just to give us a change of pace when necessary. But two makes it clear we have no idea what we are doing in terms our future style of play and transfers.
Lambert had at least scored some and had a decent run of games during a stretch before we switched to a back 3. Balo will likely do something crazy soon due to his lack of playing time.
Nice to see gerrard score two - and I think we will see him higher up more with lallana out for a month.
Not expecting much this January, but I think there are some real needs on this team that do not get addressed properly.
Eta - frick and now Suso is gonna go in June? I thought he would grow perfectly into Rodgers system. But I guess a lack of pt to this point says that Rodgers doesn't rate him. Course his injury didn't help this year.

Yeah it's hard to grow in the system when you don't get a chance to show what he can do, unless he's been really poor in training. I was hoping he would get another loan, possibly to a Championship or PL side. It would have been nice for him to grow into a CM that could boss the middle of the park

The lineups selection yesterday, mostly the attack, was poor. I'd be interested to see a heat map cause you could just see Gerrard and Lambert isolated up top and to the right generally, while Coutinho and Markovic were kind of isolated on the left. It also didn't help that our top 2 were so static. You could really see where Lallana and Sterling makes a difference.

Ive read that it isn't Suso's footballing ability that BR doesn't rate, its doubts over his toughness.. I don't know if that means durability, mental, desire or what... or even if it's true..
On the two strikers, I believe Lambert was always brought in to be the "plan B," late in games and at £4mm, not a bad price for an international player (albeit a fringe one)... It's unfortunate, due to injuries, he will be judged by what he's offered in more of a starting striker's role... which, for our desired style of play, hasn't been much..
Maybe I just wanna believe, but I still think Balotelli isn't as bad as some people make out (not you)... and he can fit into our style just fine, with the right personnel with him.. maybe not an every match starter... He's looked pretty good at times and all thats been lacking is finishing, but that comes with a run of games and some confidence... All that said, it wouldn't surprise me if he's gone soon, but I'd like him to stay.
Yesterday was great. though not a good performance... Stevie with the brace, right on cue..
The only part I hate is that this will add fuel to the fire that BR (or FSG) is running him out of the club, and while Ive had issues with some of his decisions... I don't agree. I think its Stevie strictly deciding he wants to still be an every match player, which he can't keep doing here... simple as that.
edit: In retrospect, we should have just stumped up the £20mm for Bony this summer (combined fee for the two strikers we bought)... He could have performed in both roles for the team..

This is ridiculous. Anyone saying this is just trolling because they hate BR. Stevie himself has bent over backwards to let everyone know how much he loved Brendan. Even in the interview where he said he was leaving he talked about how he really wishes they met 10 years ago. This decision is all Gerrard's.

Yes, Stevie gave BR the ultimate praise in that interview. I also don't buy into this notion that he is being run off by the manager. No way.
Posted on 1/6/15 at 1:18 pm to Meursault
I don't buy into it, but trust me... it's out there... Either that or we should have done more to hold on to him, at all costs..
I assume it's mainly the cynical nature of the British media and their headlines, but it tends to feed the minority that think FSG are the greedy americans, looking to turn a profit and shite on the tradition/history of the club..
On the latter point, maybe it's being brought up on American sports and salary caps, etc., but sentimentality has a very little place.. at some point it's a business decision and you have to do whats best from a sporting and business decision... I am just glad we'll never have to play against him in the future...
