It really was bad. They've had moments where they played well in past games, but this one was just an abomination. They really did look a step behind.

Lucas just can't keep up with the speed of the game in the EPL anymore... I think he'd be best served in Serie A where the game is played at a much slower pace.. But how many times will he (or Gerrard) cost us a free kick in dangerous areas diving in for a late tackle?!?!

I disagree. Lucas has been phenomenal in the matches leading up to today. I think it was the combination of Gerrard, and the meat-grinder schedule that had him so lackluster today. He's tired, and he should be. The whole team just looked tired. The good thing is the lads should be able to get some rest after today.

Steven Gerrard gtfo. Yet another game as a passenger and largely useless. It's like playing with 10 men.

Shame we spent so much money on squad depth then...

I don't know what to say about the game today. We're just disappointing accross the board.

ETA - I do know what to say - squads that drop home points against relegation sides when they are trying to catch up to a top 4 position don't deserve any shot at top 4.

I think Lucas has looked better when paired with Hendo, against less than stellar competition... stevie and lucas together is terrible... In spot play, I think he can do a decent job here and there... But I'd still move him on given a somewhat decent offer

Yea I think Lucas is serviceable with a proper pairing. But we really need to upgrade there if not this window, then in the summer.

You know BR had to put Stevie back in and Hendo is kinda undroppabe... So Manquillo made way... At least Hendo has the legs to cover for Lucas...

Also, I thought Sakho defended well again, but he has to watch out for those one or two mental lapses on his passing... He is asking to get dropped again..

Toure had to keep telling everyone to settle down in the back.

I think my big concern is this - we want to be top 4. If you created a best XI in the PL. And then a second best XI. And then a third best XI. And finally a fourth best XI.

How many guys on our team would make any of those 4 best of teams?

Sterling? Probably, depending upon position. Sturridge - probably again. Depends upon how much you dock him for health concerns. He's certainly behind a few even before health concerns.

Anyone else? Stevie? Not on play this year. Lallana is probably just off that grouping.

So we want to be top 4, but have maybe 2 guys that would make one of the four best starting XI all-star teams in the PL?

We are deficient at many positions.

So, now the rumor mill is going crazy with the Stebie to LA Galaxy...

IMO, it'd be sad to see him go, but I think his presence is too big for our manager (our most out there) to ignore... I'm not sure he is ready to be a bit player yet, mentally...

I could live with MLS being his next destination..

I kinda hope it happens. Although that makes me very sad.

Me too... He can probably still be highly effective in MLS and LA needs a new DP (correct? Im not really sure)... I don't want to see him anywhere else in Europe..

This is a young team that needs to move forward and I don't think he is part of that...

frick me my earlier post was unintentional foreshadowing. I was just being angry Stevie I didn't mean it I swear!

In all seriousness, so surreal. It's good that he leaves but I'm not ashamed to say tears will be in order on the last match day of the season.

The problem is that he is not being used correctly. He needs to be a supersub

True, but I don't think he is ready to be that yet... In his mind, he thinks he can still be an every match player... Thats why i think its best... I'd love him to stay if he accepted it would be as a part time starter and impact sub...

Confirmed via Barrett and Pearce that he plans on leaving after the year.

Will be a very sad day when he leaves, but you knew it was going to happen sooner than later and it probably wasn't going to be the ending we hoped for.

All true. The only possible ending was that, like Carragher, he felt like he wasn't able to give his all. That ain't Stevie. Problem is, his all isn't good enough all of the time.

I think he needs to be limited to 120 minutes in a 7 day period - that means starting every other game and 30 or so sub appearence in the other game. If there's a third/midweek game, its a pick and choose situation.

Agreed

But he'll still be good in the MLS. Just curious to see if he's used in a deeper role or back as an AM again
