He's a central midfielder

yet in the German youth system he plays in the back
and for Leverkusen he played in the back and was put in mid field to protect the back four when needed

When Studge comes back... Who would you drop? Cou or Lallana? Maybe Raheem at first, for rest, but he's in the best 11... Also, Markovic... I still prefer Moreno at LWB
I'd still, at some point, like to see the attacking trident flipped with Mario and Daniel partnering..
Hopefully, these guys will make BRs job tough to pick the lineup..
If we go to a back 4 again, I hope we keep Can sitting deep in the midfield...

You know ive been a big fan of his from day one, hes not great at anything but a jack of trades until he finds his true niche.
but you guys need to pick a place for him. In the back or protecting the back four esp when he gets more discipline.
Playing him far up and almost as a winger was absurd.

He played at LB for Bayer out of need... I think he could be a very good CB, but he has the skill set to be a great CM...
I actually think it will be valuable for him to get exposure in multiple positions, he's only 20... Worked well for Carra
I'm sure in the next couple of years or so, it will be determined what his best position/where we need him most and he'll settle in there.. I have high hopes for him
Edit: we've never played him as a winger really, early on he played a more advanced role out of need...

Ideally I want him as a CM, but if he just happens to be most suited for the central defender role... Well that wouldn't upset me too much, but we would still have that CM-sized hole in the roster. It would be nice to have someone deep who is able to carry the ball out, and distribute. Something we've missed since Daniel Agger.

He played all three at Leverkusen. But in the national youth set up they developed him in the back. He could be a good DM but he looks much better playing in the back and did before coming to Liverpool.

It could also stunt his growth. Def a flip of the coin. But if he has aspirations of playing for Germany at the senior level, or even Turkey he needs to find a position soon.
Also glad to see Lallana get a run of matches.

in the advanced role but on the outside

I wish we had Can.

Yeah, I think he can be a special B2B MF or DM... Not sure where he is best suited yet... He would be wasted as a FB, but I don't think we need to worry about that... But if his future is as a CB, I'm ok with that too...
So, does Raheem get a retroactive suspension? If so, it's deserved (but then I would think Shelvey deserves one too)... I'll give it to him though, he's been getting mauled this year and he has kept his cool for the most part...

Bitch slapped Fernandez in the face

Sterling kinda pushed the Swansea defender in the face after he grabbed the back of his head... I'm sure he felt provoked, but he needed to be cool there... I really dont know how he wasn't carded

Yeah, definite yellow and depending on the ref could have been red

About time you guys played Can in the right position
I like his versatility and I admit I still don't know where he would be best. I still like him as a center mid, but he's looked really good at CB, where he really hasn't played much outside of U-21's with Germany

I just wanted to point out that our CBs played a good number of really nice balls today. Several of them were along the ground and hard and opened up Swansea. Two goals and a few other chances came from our CBs making nice passes.
Skyrtel is still not used to playing in the middle of a back three - he's lost a bit when under pressure and thats led to a few goals the since this system was adopted. It looks like a system we'll be keeping for awhile, even if its not an every week system, so I hope he becomes more comfortable.
Our front three are a lot of fun to watch right now. Can't wait to add Sturridge to the mix.
Who would ever think that Lucas would be the glue that would start to hold our midfield together again?

He definitely has the build for it. I didn't think he had the discipline to play there as a true DM (see Gerrard) but he'so looked damn good at CB so who knows.
I understand the whole picking a position for him to not stunt his development, but it's really helped some of our more recent players under Rodgers.
