I hope Cabaye gets a straight red. He has been a cocky turd this match.

We do have some work on the back end but 3 more and we have time for JK to figure it out.

yes, please get Matip a proper partner in the window!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lovren seems to be fine when he's sandwiched by Matip and Milner.

But when he has Moreno to his left?

I don't think either of his 2 mistakes yesterday had anything to do with who was on his left.

The combo of Lovren and Moreno on the left is worrisome...

I though Lovren was at his best on the right of Sakho...

Still pissed at Mama for fricking up what could have been a very solid pairing with Matip...

I don't know about that.

That cross that CP headed in for their second goal was extremely poorly defended by Moreno.

Lovren still did an awful job marking him and essentially gave him a free header. It was an easy cross to defend if he just attacked the ball.

Moreno could have done better closing him down, but Lovren was terrible allowing McArthur to beat him to that cross...

When do you think Gomez will be ready to accept his spot next to Matip? And do you think that is the plan at CB for us? I know he played LB for us but I also know his natural spot is CB and remember him going forward with his left foot?

Just to be clear I know he is going to come back as a CB I just wonder if Matip and Gomez is the pairing of the future?

I think it'll be a bit of time before(and if) Gomez becomes the first choice CB. I don't think he's ready yet - though Klopp will give him some games once he's fit.

I think the main problem is that we've seen that Lovren can be decent when he's surrounded by stability. But his biggest issue is when he's forced to make a quick decision in space. Gomez will get his chances, but its not like Gomez was locking in a CB spot before his injury.

I'm not making any permanent decisions about Karius, but I don't think he will ever be world class. He doesn't have the instincts for it. That first goal - I would expect most GK in the EPL to save that. There's only ONE place the ball can go, and he kept his hands down and to the side, despite cutting out the angle, instead of high over his head.

Its hard to grade him - he hasn't had any real chance to make a spectacular save. The balls are either fairly close to him, or so far in the corner he has no chance. This was the first goal he's given up where I felt he should have done better.

He may end up really really good. But there are some instincts that he's lacking that I think it takes to be world class.

I read on a Liverpool site that Klopp is arranging a friendly for the coming international break and that one of the reasons is because he wants to get Gomez on the pitch and start getting him in game condition.

Agreed, I don't think we have seen him once play CB in a LFC shirt.

eh, that first goal was all on Lovren... IMO it was always going to be tough to save.. He bet on McArthur letting it drop and him trying to slot it home...

I said early on I can live with the Karius mistakes this season... remember De Gea's first season in the EPL!? He was a helluva shot stopper in Germany, his distribution has always been a little shaky..

Klopp has had a friendly scrimmage during all of the int'l breaks... glad this is the last one for a while!

edit: I should add I am not saying I'm 100% sold on karius... Far from it! I just want to give him this year to bed in (or maybe I'm just so anti-Migs, I'm too blind).. Looks like Klopp is planning to give him every opportunity to keep the #1 shirt.

Dammit! Obviously, it sucks for him personally.: but I was hoping to make a nice profit off him in the offseason... lots of teams sniffing around on him...

Ughh...I don't think he would ever be first XI type of quality for us, but he would have been a great squad player, starting some cup games and maybe a few PL games in a year with Europe and coming off the bench with energy and urgency.

We now have less depth up front for the season.
