We have a team from Alexandria in our league this year. When we have to travel there in the spring for one game I am going to lose it

For the first 4-5 years of my kid playing, Shreveport was still competing in LCSL on the girls side. Always fun to make the 4 hour drive from BR to Shreveport for a 1 pm game on a Saturday.

Eric wynalda has a very good podcast on YouTube.

He pulls no punches and doesn't kiss arse.about us mens team, Like those morons on many of the soccer podcasts. Especially guys Like tim Howard, and company. Their "MLS is a good thing," is so laughable, it's the epitome of why USA soccer for men, us where it is. Any player worth a lick should be in Europe, and playing

The higher ups at MSC are so damn gung ho about competing in these ECNL games selling it as a "tougher challenge" and a "big step up in competition" and "must win games".

I think it’s funny that they’re like that and all over club soccer… they should be most proud of the way their local high school teams dominate and that they produce those players. To the general public that’s what counts

Also until youth clubs primary focus is on developing professional footballers even travel here is essentially rec that cost more money. Clubs primary source of income is off the players parents not revenue from developing top level talent that can be sold down the line which they get money for on every transfer.

To me, this is the main reason that individual development is sacrificed by clubs. Transfer fees trickle down all the way to every stop in a player’s club development. It incentivizes the club to mold and develop the best players possible. If they are able to do that, then it is to the club’s benefit as the more and better players they can make, the more money they get, and the financial stress can be taken from parents. They are also able to take more kids who wouldn’t otherwise have those opportunities, but sometimes develop better than ones who can afford
Unfortunately, the USSF, which is basically run by the MLS, only allows those transfer fees to go to the MLS academies, thus relegating the other clubs as nothing other than somewhere from which they can poach players. What incentive is there for a smaller club or a club outside of their system to develop players with an eye for down the road? What benefits? They already get their money from the parents and as long as they can get the money that way without any other means to support themselves, the system will remain as it is

I don’t think this is entirely true. The first change of this was with Deandre Yedlin’s original club getting compensation.

It’s still going on. In fact, there’s a federal case in California that’s been going on for awhile.

Get mls away from USA involvement.

Build academies, not private ones, or we get same pay for play shite. Ones where kids are invited, picked by board who runs the academy.

I thought img could be a change but it's the same shite

99% of kids who played in club set ups while growing up , were from private and Catholic schools who's parents had cash and could afford the tourneys, leagues and equipment. Was 100% for hockey, for majority of my lifetime. Hockey has changed, soccer should also, 1000 times cheaper, so it can be done

This isn’t going to happen. The vast majority of the top prospects end up in MLS academies. You have some USL and even non pro club affiliated kids in youth national team rosters but it’s the clear minority.

Again, the MLS teams are way ahead of the pack on this. It’s impossible to uncouple MLS from the national team. A strong domestic league and academy system is paramount to developing a strong national team.

In that case, Crocker is hamstrung from the get go

Just looking at the history of US Soccer from their own website paints a corrupt picture. It would take a major disruption in leadership with an actual eye towards the good of soccer in the US. As long as it is fueled by cronyism and politics, it stays stagnant
