My heart breaks for young Josmer

Everything was going just so perfect in 2013. It appeared all the questions that people had about him were answered. This is the worst possible time for him to go on another scoring drought.
Granted, Sunderland is a shite team to play for, especially if you're a striker, but Jozy still should have more than 2 goals in all competitions. There's no doubt he's still the USMNT's most talented striker, but dammit, he's going to be going into to Brazil with zero confidence.
I guess we just have to hope that he can net a few goals in the WC warm up friendlies.

You could make an argument for AJ. In fact, the Scouting America Blog on ESPN, which has various anonymous UCL scouts give their opinion on US players, rated Aron higher than Josmer.

I still wonder how he was quickly loaned out by Villarreal to Xeréz (in Segunda), and they didn´t even play him.
He´s either very high maintenance material, or he´s got some head problems.
Granted, last season looked good to all on this board, but the Dutch league is pretty bad. Really, in spite of stereotypes (which is what nearly 99% on this board go by).

Is Jozy a thug because he suplexed Rafael? 
It's clear that he's not good enough right now. Right now he's a very bad imitation of Emile Heskey. He'll turn the corner, but I don't know if it will be in England.

I've watched a lot of him the past couple years. Jozy is a much better player when surrounded by other good players. Or at least good offensive players. He plays up or down to the level of his teammates, it seems. When he's getting consistent touches of the ball and has players around him he can play some football with, he can be a really good player. This could be said about a lot of players, I guess, but it's just something I've noticed watching him. He's a much better passer and has more skill than people give him credit for.

When Sunderland springs moves in those rare instances when the team looks not so disjointed, Jozy is usually a big part of those actions. His thinking on the ball and one touch passing is actually very good. He keeps the ball moving, and usually in a positive direction. This is in contrast to the other players on the team who usually just stop and go backwards, even if they are on the break.

I don't think it's a high maintenance thing. He seems like a pretty level headed, well liked dude. Reading his little journal series he's doing for ESPNFC, he seems pretty smart too.
I think the simple answer is, he shouldn't have left AZ. He needs to be on a better team to be successful and that could have happened after a good or even decent World Cup.

A mid-table club like Sunderland is where his talent level tops out at. I seriously doubt he gets another chance in England if he fails at Sunderland. Strikers like him are a dime a dozen.
