I like the MLS, its just frustrating knowing the product is second-tier especially with the dominance of the Big 4 sports leagues. In terms of the quality of the matches, it can be a bit annoying to watch an MLS match after watching mid to high level European matches. Sometimes its like watching a boys soccer game and then watching a girls soccer game.

That being said, I love the direction the league is going and i think it will only get better. Hopefully one day we can be seen as a viable alternative to Europe.

While I agree with you, when you say European you really mean four leagues. Because the majority of European leagues are much worse than MLS.

The people I'm talking about don't even know most of those leagues exist. And you're missing the point. I'm talking about people who say, "Oh, I don't watch MLS. I watch European soccer", like it's automatically better. Most European leagues are complete shite...because most leagues, period, are complete shite. It doesn't mean anything.

Those that say they only watch European soccer probably don't watch the SPL or the Championship or any of the FA Cup games that involve the smaller clubs. Hell I'm sure very few sit down and watch a Hull v Stoke game. Just admit it and say you only watch Champions League teams.

Exactly. "European soccer" isn't some magical thing. We had this kid show up to the futsal facility once who claimed to be from "Europe". When asked if he was from anywhere in particular he got embarrassed and reluctantly said Romania. He was cocky as hell but he was straight garbage and got embarrassed the entire time. That's the kinda thing I'm talking about. You're from Romania, dude. You don't get to ride the coattails of nations like Spain.

Yeah, the MLS is certainly up against the fact the majority of football viewers only ever really watch the top handful of teams in the world and will compare the league, like all leagues, unfairly against that standard.

This is the excellent point made in the rebuttal.

One of my best friend's father was a youth team coach for Virtus Roma basketball and so I went to a lot of games and somewhat followed the team. It's the same story with so many Italian basketball fans declaring that they "only watch the NBA" but doing so with an annoying attitude.

On the other side of it, for those that do follow better leagues closely, the comparisons between Sporting Kansas City and Genoa like the one Bobby Warshaw makes are pretty overblown. Saying Virtus Roma plays great basketball at a pretty high level is one thing, hinting that they stack up pretty well against the Bucks is another.

I think the leagues need to be professional, not semi-pro.

Also, the former MLSer who tried to sneak in what he knew would be deduced by many (that MLS would hang with the big boy leagues, by mentioning Almería, Elche and Granada), was pretty off.

Almería would be possibly the strongest mid table side, and both Elche and Granada would wreck shite.

Elche would be the champions.

I'd take MLS's better teams over most Championship sides, FWIW.

I wouldn't go that. The league is from about mid table championship to the best few teams in league one. The top 10 teams in the championship are basically lower end EPL quality esp after the two auto promotion spots. It's so hard to get promoted bc those lower leagues have so many damn teams

I actually have league one club about 15mins from where I just moved to that ill check out sometime.
