It sort of sucks for Bayern because they really want the American market, and they were really pushing Julian to grab it quick.

They come here, play their subs for most of the game, get beat with a ton of casual fans watching, and Pep acts like a bag of dicks on TV. Bayern really got boned on this one.

I do think some of those tackles were bit much for the game's importance, though. I just think Pep should shake his hand when he's clearly upset and sorry about it. Caleb Porter looked like he was about to cry when he should be happy as hell. Pep acted like a child.

As for Donovan as MOTM, I'm a bit shocked, but I expect it by now. He played a few minutes, scored, and that's all good. He just wasn't better than Henry, who may be in his last All-Star game and played very well.

Bundesliga isn't in a good TV situation here (compared to EPL and La Liga), so that's the biggest roadblock to Bayern's grabbing more US market share.

That changes next season when Fox gets them.

sounds like you guys dont understand MVPs or all star games, let alone all star game MVPs.

In that case, you give it to Henry because he's most likely retiring.

Will Johnson's challenge was innocuous, late but innocuous.

I agree with that, but they recently launched a Bayern site specifically targeted at American fans. They've also done a lot in terms of figuring out how to get a foot in while it's hot, whether that means touting Julian as a young star here or playing this match. They REALLY want to get their share here, and they couldn't have came out any worse.

I want to see what Pep has to say about it. Wish he would have handled himself better.

Expect for Donovan is still the face of the MLS and he scored the game winner in an All star game.

All star MVP's =/= regular MOTM.

And I never said Dono shouldnt have won it. I just thought Henry was better than he was. I dont have a problem with Dono getting it.

that would be a great point and probably would have been the case if henry did something like have a goal or an assist and if landon didnt score a game winner

Seemed to be backtracking a bit and sort of apologetic

Maybe one of the higher ups got mad at him

He talked a ton about how American athletes in every sport are the best in the world and that football will be on that level soon.

He mentioned that Henry was a huge help to his managerial development during his first year as a coach.

I missed the very start as well, but SB Nation tweeted that he said he didn't see Cuhleeb Porter

I think what he said was "I didn't go shake hands because I didn't see a coach over there"

Meaning he's still mad at Caleb.

Pep Guardiola is a hero to Caleb Porter. Can only imagine how mortified Porter is that Guardiola wouldn't shake his hand. Undeserved.

Damn, that really does have to suck for Porter.
