No matter how much contact you make with the ball, you’re not allowed to make a tackle with so much force that you destroy your opponent’s knee through direct contact. That’s dangerous play endangering an opponent. Red card by the definition of law.

I don't know how you see that contact and think it shows soccer's rules as being soft. You want to talk about that straight red from Saturday, hell yea. Not this one.

He didnt make a tackle, he kicked the ball.

Forsberg looks like Tom Cruise from the side profile.

This game has the AIDS anyway at least that gave it something interesting

I would be amazed if his ACL isn’t torn. He was pointing to the outside of his leg and sometimes with that mechanism you can tear the lateral collateral ligament too.
ETA: Randy this isn’t a tackle?

Tbh, the reason that Ukraine player got injured was he decided to challenge a ball he was beat to by an absolute mile. Still, by the Ukraine player positioning his body in that way, the challenge by the Swedish player goes from just him kicking the ball, to extreme endangerment of safety. Instant red card for sure. Still feel bad for both players involved though, neither deserved what they got

Yea I could see myself missing that, not an international footballer
But then again that Raheem Sterling miss…
It can happen to anyone

Omg that knee to the head I would be out cold
This game had 0 stoppage time in the first half and it looks like they’re trying to make up for it

So whats the difference there? Guy kicked the ball and then put his studs into the midsection and knee to the face of the late clumsy chaklenger

Ukraine going to score and end it before penalties

Studs above the knee is endangerment. I actually agree that knee to the head could definitely have been called a foul though, maybe a yellow. Ref didn’t see it though.
The main difference is the knee was part of his natural shooting followthrough, whereas the Sweden player earlier was in an unnatural position with elevated studs

Um his studs went into the guys midsection before the knee to the head

New to soccer but seeing these guys flail around is getting a bit ridiculous. Knee guy and knee to head guy were legit but the others are just fricking theatrics

I guess I need a replay I didn’t notice that the first time.
Again it’s part of his natural shooting motion though, the Swedish player was the one who left his feet and put himself in the path of the shot
