It's been eliminated unless it's a red card offense in the area OR if the player makes no attempt to play the ball. And as a currently certified referee (like pvilleguru is I think), it better be blatantly not trying to play the ball for me to show a red card.

Now as I type this, I see Bednarek get sent off for not trying to play the ball when he fouled Martial in the area. I agree with the penalty call, but not the red card here. To me, Bednarek is clearly trying to pull off the challenge and not make contact; this seems very harsh.
