For me it's always very important the choice of captain. Wayne has shown a great attitude towards everything he does
quote:
“I have been very impressed by his professionalism and his attitude to training and to my philosophy. He is a great inspiration to the younger members of the team and I believe he will put his heart and soul into his captaincy role.
"Darren Fletcher will become the vice-captain. Darren is a natural leader and will captain the team when Wayne isn't playing.
“Darren is a very experienced player and a very popular member of the dressing room, I know he will work well alongside Wayne."

There are plenty of interesting stories in the papers but many of them are leading on the line we brought you yesterday, that Marcos Rojo is understood to have handed in a transfer request at Sporting Lisbon as he seeks a move to Manchester United. The Daily Mail adds that United are poised to splash out £80million to turn Louis van Gaal’s squad into Premier League contenders, with Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria and Daley Blind of Ajax their top targets along with Rojo.

If we somehow signed Blind, Di Maria and Rojo...
i mean what.
long shot, i know, but that would make me very very happy.

Couldn't be happier for Fletcher. He has looked great in pre-season and his appointment as vice-captain shows he factors into LvG's plans for the season. Having him back to form on a consistent basis will be a huge boost to the squad.
On the reports of potential new signings, I think Blind and Rojo sound very realistic. Two out of three would be good. Getting Di Maria would be great. I think his signing would give us a real option of going 4-3-3 in addition to 3-5-2.
ETA: Hopefully Rojo's club will agree to sell. Sounds like he's definitely interested in the move.

Di Maria is the long shot that price tag is absurd

Got around to watching the replay last night. I thought Jones and Smalling payed exceptionally well. Blackett was good too, although he doesn't need to be rushed into the PL fray.
Blind/Smalling/Jones could make that back three work. All are skilled, multi-faceted players with the necessary passing acumen.

I watched the replay of the 4-1 thrashing to took from City while on lunch break. Never thought I could get so mad watching a replay almost a year old.
Fellaini was down right awful that game and responsible for 3 goals.

Word is he was getting booed by the home fans in the friendly last night. He's not a United player and should go. But hate it's come to that.

What espnfc thinks we will come out with

That would be...interesting. Wrong kind of 3-5-2 for what LvG has been running. Shaw and Valencia are way too high.

Rooney confirmed as el capitan

About 18 hours late on that one, champ.
Also, Shaw is out for a month with an injury. Time for the Ashley Young LWB spectacular.

I was worried when he didn't feature at all yesterday.

Also, Lindegaard has reportedly been released, which is quite scary if DDG gets injured.

That is some top banter.

It's probably not too far off, and United could use him on either wing
