Guess if I get a chance to go to England and want to see Arsenal the best chance for that would be to go when they are playing at City.

Hell I wouldn't go watch Jay Spearing play if you gave me free box seats and passes to visit the players in the locker room

In the late 90´s, early 2000´s, what with the indie scene (Oasis were huge), ecstacy, early meth, heroin revival and the revival of the music of bands like Joy Division, New Order, Stone Roses, it was a swinging place. There were people from all over Europe in droves, as well as the USA, Australia, Canada and obviously, Japan.

But still, it was still Manchester.

Wonder if they'll investigate "safe-standing areas?" There's starting to be a big push for that in the U.K.

The Etihad getting a WC game would still be very unlikely
Only one city is allowed 2 stadiums to host and that would be London 100% of the time with Wembley and the Emirates.
So it would e Old Trafford vs Etihad, Old Trafford has a lot more history, is bigger, more iconic and has a history of being the venue for England games. Only one winner imo

I would agree, however, using logic and reason to predict what FIFA (or the IOC) will do is mistake.
The Etihad is newer and has better luxary boxes and cororate hospitality space. I could see that being preffered over history, fans, and all that stuff that should mattter but often doesn't.
