I wouldn’t be that cynical. My guess is a hefty fine:£100,000,000? Maybe more. Vacate titles, which would make “Agueroooooo!” Null and void, and that would make me sad. I don’t think they would retroactively award titles to runners-up. Also, a hefty points deduction, but one that would still give them a chance to stay up.

People calling for expulsion or relegation to League 2 are living in dream land. Imagine the NFL expelling the KC Chiefs or The Cowboys or The Steelers. EFL needs City as much as it needs ManU or Liverpool or Arsenal. It would be stupid to expel them. This isn’t like Juventus who were literally fixing matches and paying refs. (We all know the Premier League fixes matches without teams having to do it. )

pump the brakes, let’s not compare an oil institution Johnny come lately to some founding league members

The top division existed while man city was shite and will exist after they are shite

False the EPL wants the star power, if they do get expelled the star power in that side will go back to the EPL to different sides or go to some other champions league sides

Huge fine
Probably 15ish point deduction
Probably a transfer embargo for at least a year

My guy Khaldoon will probably find a way to sort it out

EPL has warned them if they appeal and lose, the penalties will by far harsher. Other top clubs are already lining up to sue. MC is in deep shite here. They'll be playing against Sheffield United, Preston and Blackburn Rovers next season.

frick them they’re just as big POS as city to the rest of the FA. There aren’t any good guys in the big 6. It’s all a cartel to the have nots.

I hope city gets off with a slap on the wrist because at least they embrace it.

They still won the titles on the field, just like Reggie Bush won the Heisman (and I hated USC from that era)

Vacate whatever you want, but you can't erase what actually happened

That would honestly be hilarious.

-Chelsea and City get new owners who inject life into their clubs
-The old guard says, "whoooooaa now, not cool, you can't spend money on the club you own."
-FFP protects the red cartel under the guise of "keeping clubs solvent" to avoid another Leeds situation
-United owners load the club with debt but it's cool because taking on a shite load of debt is OK as long as it's within the rules to prevent clubs from taking on too much debt
-City skirt the rules, inject cash
-United (1.1 BILLION in debt) sues City for breaking said rules to keep clubs solvent

It is amazing

The best part is how City is a model of how to run an operation now. The barriers to entry were artificial to protect the old clubs, and now that City has gotten past that, the old clubs are flailing and City is dominating.

The funniest part is how a bunch of Americans who have no connection to these clubs are feigning like they're mortally wounded that barriers to entry to clubs they LARP as supporters of were eroded by accounting tricks.

Which titles were won during the period of cheating? I think there are only 3

The purported cheating ended 2017-2018.

All the current domination is clean

What are the allegations of current cheating?

City is one of the most well-run teams in Europe now.

If you wanna get technical the majority of it is procedural/reporting stuff. The biggest charge (sponsorship and off-book payments) was I THINK 2009-13 or so. A couple of places are reporting that's the charge they didn't get us on. It'll be hilarious if the ruling gets handed down and its "well you didn't do it but you didn't cooperate so you're getting hit for that"

QPR did some weird shite at the end of that game.

I support city and cheered that sequence on at the time, but looking back, if it comes out that QPR took a dive at the end for cash, i wouldn't be surprised.

this era of success might not exist if they had faced their accusations in a timely manner and accepted sanctions

highly unlikely Pep goes there if they were being sanctioned

instead MC denied everything, went to court and lost

still MC denied everything, went to High Court and lost again

Der Spiegel publishes emails showing MC officials committed perjury in the court proceedings

MC continues to deny

had they dealt with the situations and faced their punishments years ago then they could have moved on

i am sure you remember this exact type of punishment scenario happened in Italy with Juventus in 2006. Except Juventus is a founding member of Serie A and MC is a relative newcomer to prominence. Juventus faced their punishment, went down to Serie B, won the League and came right back up.

I wonder what will happen with other clubs suing MC for damages.
That might get really interesting.

I just think the lines are so arbitrary as to who was damaged and when. How much one year of book keeping impacted said years roster, how many signings if any resulted from the “cooked books” thus impacting that years roster. Would they have finished 2 instead of 1? 5? 10? If Arsenal or United have a claim why doesn’t who got booted at 18 and likely was hit much harder financially.

It’s impossible to quantify.

I feel like of all the things being mentioned for issues happening almost a decade ago nobody is really calling out for Abu Dhabi to be stripped of ownership. Seems to me the head of the supposed beast should be the one cut off and you force a sale with a massive financial penalty to them on the way out.

Seems kind of shitty to punish the region, city, businesses, that have developed around the area to support a mega team.

Their current success was built on the cheating that’s been proven. I doubt they are suddenly running some squeaky clean org. If you think oil money sheikhs give a flying frick about the rules I think you’re naive.

A clear track record here but oh yeah totally clean now how could we even think otherwise
