According to Football Insider, Guehi will ‘complete a move to Liverpool’ this week after Palace’s match against Fredrikstad on Thursday evening.
Palace will take on Fredrikstad away from home at the Nye Fredrikstad Stadion in the second leg of the Conference League play-off round tie on Thursday.
Guehi has ‘an agreement’ in place with Palace that he can leave once the tie is over, with the Eagles leading 1-0 from the first leg.
Liverpool ‘are close to finalizing a fee with Palace’, according to the report, which has added that while the defending Premier League champions will not increase their initial offer of £35million (€40.6m, $47.1m), they will make ‘a minor adjustment on the add-ons’.
Trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano has also given his take on Guehi’s current situation.
While Romano has not been as bold as Football Insider to claim that the defender is on the verge of joining Liverpool, the transfer guru has reported that Palace are ready to sell him if they get a replacement.
Romano wrote on X at 3:35pm on August 27: “Understand Liverpool remain in active talks to sign Marc Guehi immediately.
“#LFC are ready to pay over £30m now to get the deal done… but it depends on Crystal Palace.
“If Palace find replacement and let him go, Guehi already said yes to the Reds.”

We will be submitting our $130 million dollar offer for Isak before Friday morning. If Guehi and Isak both move to Merseyside I'd think Tsimikas and someone else will be sold. Most likely Elliot. It's going to go down to the wire.

Kostas goes on loan most likely.

There's always twists and turns down the stretch before the window closes but it's obvious Newcastle has let the Wissa deal drag on so it lessens our chances of getting Isak.

I have no problem waiting until the next transfer window for Isak. Maybe at that point we realize he's not really needed and there's other positions of greater need.
Guehi has to get completed now. He's got to replace Konate in the starting XI asap.

Newcastle’s failures in the summer transfer market have been well documented, and with just four days to go until the window slams shut it had rather begun to look as though the failing Saudi sportswashing project simply wouldn’t manage to bring in the striker they so desperately needed.
From a Liverpool point of view this was a very bad thing, since Newcastle have been highly resistant to selling Swedish superstar striker Alexander Isak to the Reds and potentially leaving themselves heading into the season with an out of position Anthony Gordon their best option to lead the line.
In the end, though, good things might be coming to those who wait—and that goes for both Newcastle and the Isak-chasing Reds. That’s because the latest from The Mail’s Newcastle-connected Craig Hope has The Magpies closing on a shock deal to sign VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade.
The shock here comes from multiple directions. First, at this point the idea of Newcastle managing to sign a striker is honestly shocking. Then there’s the part where Woltemade was considered a lock to join Bayern Munich earlier in the window, with the player said to only want the Bavarians.
Add in the part where Stuttgart set a hard deadline to conclude negotiations with Bayern—a deadline that passed with Bayern unwilling to tick above €40M for a player Stuttgart put a valuation of €100M on and that most believed it would take at least €75M to sign—and, well, shocking.
That’s assuming any of this is true, obviously. If it is, and if Newcastle get it done, it’s hard to imagine a better ending to the summer transfer window for them given the circumstances. And for Liverpool, well, it would almost certainly mean being able to get the Isak deal across the line.
Update: Sky Germany now say a €90M deal has been agreed between Stuttgart and Newcastle and that Woltemade has said his goodbyes to teammates and is travelling to England to complete the transfer.

Talks fizzled out earlier this month over valuation, with Palace quoting £45million for their star defender, while Liverpool won’t go above £35m. But they are expected to gather pace once again after Palace’s Conference League play-off against Fredrikstad on Thursday night.
Palace manager Oliver Glasner said the club had to keep Guehi until at least that match, due to their lack of options, but knows chairman Steve Parish is open to selling. The south London club have prepared for Guehi’s exit by lining up potential replacements.
They registered an interest in Manchester City's Manuel Akanji earlier this week and have now made an offer to Monaco to take Mohammed Salisu on loan, according to The Guardian. Neither are guaranteed, with competition from Bayer Leverkusen and Galatasaray for Akanji and from Olympiakos for Salisu.
Palace have also been linked with Rennes’ Jeremy Jacquet and Toulouse’s Jaydee Canvot, but Akanji would represent the most experienced option. The 30-year-old Switzerland international has two years left on his City contract and Palace were reportedly ready to offer £15m for his services.

I swear Konate is allergic to heading the ball away on long kicks.
