Aly is a LB... I cant see him having any bearing on GJ's position.
I think GJ may play the next couple years out here and then may move on to a smaller club, once he's past his prime, for a nominal fee... His sell on date, to get any value out of him, may have come and gone (29 this month)...

Looks like FSG refused to match Spurs' bid of £35m. Well, on the bright side at least we won't be strapped to Willian's £100k/wk wages.

At this point, I'd say we should go after Adem Ljajic.... Would cost a third of those other two, with as much promise... Issue is he's kind of a head case.. His numbers were actually better than Jovetic's last year at Fiorentina and he's younger..

The difference between Spurs and Liverpool is that they get all their IN's before they sell their OUTs.
We sold Carroll last year and couldn't get his replacement until January. And now we've sold Downing and are swinging and missing at every possible replacement.
It's just frustrating.

Bale or Coentrao, Willian and Lamela???? No brainer... again, only RM can afford the first choice..

Yeah, it looks like Spurs came in, in the 11th hour with that bid...
I cant blame FSG, they are willing to spend, but at some point they have to say no... Spurs are playing with a little extra cash right now...
Willian is not a £35mm player... £30 was a stretch... He's never scored more than 8 goals in a year

I agree, its good we stick to our guns and stand by principal. It isn't always the most fun thing to do, but in the long run it will be better for us not to over extend ourselves.

My concern now is that with the way this game is heading, if you aren't willing to overpay players then you aren't finishing top 4.

Is he going to immediately start for spurs with all the other acquisitions? Seems like he might would want to take slightly less play more frequently if he has aspirations for maybe making the WC?
