One of the sad truths - we currently have more points than we did after our first 5 games last year

Aspas really hasn't looked that comfortable. Hopefully we can chalk that up to it being the first game and against Stoke
Seriously? I thought he was brilliant

Early in the game. His movement was good, but didn't think his touch was the greatest. He looked more settled prior to coming off. I'll probably watch again and take a closer look

I dont know about brilliant, but he definitely played much better in the 2nd half. I thought he did well and you could see there is some good chemistry between coutinho/aspas/sturridge

Just so you know there is nothing better than waking the entire family when you yell "there it is!!" when the goal you've been looking for finally comes on opening day! Good thing is they got to watch the rest of the game with me while eating donuts.

In other news, Villa could be tough next week. They're playing very physical, Guzan making some big stops, then Agbonlahor's speed and Benteke's finishing makes for a dangerous contest.

They have a good team. I always hate playing them. Benteke is fricking good.

So is Cissokho an automatic starter? I don't know anything about him.

What's the word on his transfer?

I believe we just got him on a loan.
ETA: Haven't seen anything official.

Just put his name in google and there's a lot of articles about it.

Thoughts from the match today.
A few of the guys definitely had the jitters in the first half.
Mignolet - I think he is a better shot stopper than Reina, but he scared me to death 3 times in the first half with the ball at his feet. He is not a Reina in terms of distribution. Had a couple of great saves, and that penalty and rebound
Aspas - definitely looked better in the second half, but you can see that he will team with Continho brilliantly at times. He was one that definitely looked to have the jitters in the first half. Pressed a bit. But I saw enough to like him and what he can do for us.
Defense - we desperately need another CB. No way Agger and Toure both make it through healthy, and Rodgers has clearly signaled that Skyrtel doesn't have what he wants. I also love that we have brought competition in for Enrique. Lucas also needs a back-up/competition, though he played pretty well today.
Frustrated a bit with how many great chances we had. Should have scored 3 goals. We'll need to put those in against the better teams we play. Have to believe it will be even better against teams that don't pack the box like Stock did for the first 45.

We need to quit shooting right at the keeper.
