Sky Sports has reported the deal, so I would say that it is pretty much official.

I can't say I feel too bad for AV since it means we may benefit from it. Also, we have more points already than we we did 5 games into last year.

I think the Valencia president said he is traveling to Liverpool on Monday for his medical and the deal will be made official once he passes it.

1 mn now and 4.5 if we decide to keep him.

The Aly Cissokho of Porto and Lyon was a marauding full back who was very very highly rated his standing has fallen since he moved to Valencia. I think BR is looking at this like another Coutinho, Sturridge signing where the player has a lot to prove.

Early in the game. His movement was good, but didn't think his touch was the greatest. He looked more settled prior to coming off. I'll probably watch again and take a closer look

Yeah sorry, was a little drunk when I posted that. He was shaky in the first half, but the entire team was. I thought he settled and showed some terrific chemistry. Considering that was his first time with all the starters it was very encouraging.

Yea I expected he would have a tough time against that Stoke defense. He was able to find some space at times without getting balls laid off to him.

Honestly, the front 4 as a whole moved real well in coming back for the ball and interchanging. And it should only get better from here on out.

For me it was my loud clapping after Mignolet's save that woke Mrs. Meursault.

Some great things today.

Mignolet was a great purchase. He was really nervous in the beginning, something he mentions in his post-match interview, but his reaction time is superb. He's sketchy in the air, something that he has had a problem with for a while now. And his feet aren't the best. But he is a tremendous shot-stopper, and that is what the club needs right now.

Kolo. Wow. What a performance. A great piece of business on a free if he continues his form. We've had some decent luck with players on free transfers recently. Bellamy, Aurelio, Maxi, Babbel, etc. I think he can give Rodgers time to find the perfect CB to bring in, possibly for great value in January.

Coutinho had some sublime passes. Looked a bit off at times, but it's the season opener so I won't complain much. Should have had a couple assists, but Begovic was in midseason form.

Agger - wtf? He's a great defender, world class on his best days, but damn he has a weird mental lapse every 10 matches or so.

Johnson and Enrique can both frick off. Enrique is absolutely top notch defensively, but he literally makes me want to drive nails into my eyeballs when he goes forward. I don't even have words to express the frustration Johnson gives me.

Lucas was great. His passing was sharp, and he definitely played as a holding MF. He does a great job getting the ball to the forwards.

I didn't think Johnson was THAT bad today. Couldn't agree more with the rest though. Good to see Lucas's form creeping back up closer to pre-injury

Johnson is easily one of the most overrated players in England.

I say something to this effect every single week. 100% accurate IMO.

Also, are set pieces practiced in training? We will either lose or draw in the last 10 minutes of at least 5 matches this season due to a set piece.

Reoccurring theme under Rogers. Seems like we don't spend any time practicing them. We consistently are terrible in man marking and weak in the air defending set pieces.

I thought aerial defense was decent considering Crouch then Jones....

I like Glenn.

I kinda wanna see him on the wing instead of RB.

I couldn't tell, were we doing zonal marking still or back to man-marking?

Aerial defending was fine considering the opponent. Still doesn't dismiss the horrible marking. On another day Stoke scores 2 on us from those same set pieces.
