Not necessarily saying he would, but were we even trying to get him?
Not sure if we could offer him more PT, more money, or anything that Arsenal can't.
I just guys that highly rated going to our rivals (and for that cheap)while we get stonewalled by every player of that class we look to buy.
I think almost all of us have wanted us to pick up another DM and Gustavo is one of the best in the world, in my opinion.

I hate the transfer rumors, 999.99999999999999% of them are total bullshite.

Was having a negative day, and then saw this, which seemed to put it in better words and summarized how I feel today.

Yea, no clue what the club is thinking at this point. I'm baffled.

My only explanation is taking steps to make the club truly self-sustaining and building the club the right way. I'm not the most financially advanced person, but so far we've made money from the transfer window and slashed a hell of a lot of money off the wage bill.
This could be due to Anfield renovations on the horizon (hopefully) and talk of financial fair play coming into effect. Who knows? Sure the ideas behind it are great, to have a low cost team that's able to churn out role players from the academy and buying a couple of superstars to bump the team up. When FSG bought the club, they talked about expanding the brand and making the club marketable, which they've improved. But one of the biggest ways to improve the brand is to win.
It all sounds great in theory, unfortunately the reality is that everyone else is still spending money and strengthening their squads. While I still believe if some of our key pieces stay healthy and a couple of young guys step up, we can still challenge for top 4, but it's looking a whole lot harder the more I look at Tottenham's squad.
I really don't think FSG prepared to come into the window spending no money, but it looks like BR wasn't lying earlier when he made the comment that we won't buy just for the sake of buying. Sounds great especially since I really like what the scouting team and transfer board are doing at identifying targets. Think about how strong this team would look had we been able to reel in Mkhitaryan, Costa, Papa, and Bernard. Of course us spending that much money would probably have been unrealistic, but even two of those would have made this a very successful window.
Sorry that was long winded, but I think there's some positives to be seen by the direction the club's taken, but there's no denying that if we want to end up back at the top of the table, we'll need to spend money. Hopefully we can do it wisely so it's not going to waste.

I understand why they are doing what they are doing. It just doesn't make sense to me. We are beginning to see an almost scenario playing out as happened last season.
Bottom line is we need to strengthen our first team if we have any hope of competing for 4th. We have brought in one person to do that - Mignolet. Other than that, we have less depth now that Downing and Assaidi, though to a lesser extent, are departing.

At this rate, between the profit this year and the reduced wage bill, we'll have 60-70m pounds to spend next year.
But that only matters if we can show promise and get closer to the CL enough to make a few top players believe they are the missing piece(s) and get us there.
Fourth is looking like a dream at this point to me.
Tottenham has a better squad than last year
Arsenal is the same (possibly better with a transfer or two still possible)
Man U - surely will drop off a bit, but its the same squad that won the league last year
Chelsea - has a better squad than last year
Man City - has as good or better of a squad, plus a better coach
Everton - will probably struggle a bit with the coaching transition at some point, but is otherwise the same squad that finished ahead of us.
The coaching changes (and hoping there are some struggles with new systems, etc.)are really the only thing that provides hope.
Is Iago Aspas (probably the only current transfer that is a real step up from last year - I consider Mig a wash vs. Reina) really helping us gain ground on any of the above?

Would be a hell of a signing... trying not to get my hopes up

Luis Suarez tells Martin Charquero (Uruguayan Journalist) he won't be leaving Liverpool and will possibly extend his LFC contract.... with a proper release clause...
Saying that the supporters swayed his decision...
Ive had Willian on the brain ever since Anzi said they were cutting the squad last week... glad to see us finally linked!!
