have you seen Pool's defense? they're not set up to park a bus,
Again, I'm not suggesting that's what they do. They wouldn't have needed to, we weren't going to attack them. I'm saying they should have been content and even encouraging the time wasting not getting pissed and frustrated by it. Played right into Jose's hands.

I understand your point to a certain degree. But Jose's tactics from the whistle were to park it and nick a goal from either an error or a break. If we attack and score, Chelsea's 1 goal and their entire game plan goes out the window. Then they have to attack us and that works in our favor much more.
This team is built to play against teams that come at us, and our achilles is teams that don't.

Such a hard game to watch.
Cou has got to get that early chance on frame or at least towards Allen.
Was very frustrating to watch us send cross after cross in - Chelsea defends those well even when they don't pack the box. Even though we tried a bunch of them, I would have rathered we keep pouring in shots from just outside the 18. All we needed was one slight deflection or a good shot - as it is we had a few dangerous ones that could have gone in.
Hate hate hate that Mourinho gets rewarded for his ugly tactics again. But I guess thats why he keeps doing it.
We may have been better off playing a bit more conservative after seeing how they played. But really, we're one Gerrard slip from it being a tie anyway. Chelsea's only threat to score was a gaffe like that.
If we don't win the title, Gerrard will never live that slip down with certain Rivals.
ETA - Aspas is essentially worthless. Hope we're able to get at least something for him this off-season.

This team really missed Sturridge and Henderson, even though Sturridge came on late. Give Chelsea credit, they couldnt be penetrated. I'm pulling for Pool to win the title, but I could have done without BR's postgame comments. Take the loss like a man.

His inexperience at this level was really exposed both during and after the game.

What did he say that was bad? All I saw was that Chelsea parked 2 buses?

"They were very deep. There were two buses parked today, never mind one," Rodgers told Sky Sports.
"It was like a back six with three midfield players in front of that. That's 10, with the goalkeeper, for 90 minutes consistently behind the ball.
"It's the polar opposite to what we do. It's not difficult to coach, to put 10 players on the 18-yard box.
"Jose will probably shove his CV in front of me [to justify his approach] but it's not my way of working, I like to take initiative."
Again, I like BR and pool. Just take the loss like a man and move on.

I don't mind the comments, I mean he's right and every one knows it... Many won't say it out loud though. I don't know if it's showing some balls or being butthurt that made him say it, but either way he's right

Sorry, is there some sort of tone I'm missing by it being in text? Thats just truth.
Much better than Jose's "Time wasting? What is that?" BS.

When you complain about what the other team did after they just beat you it comes off butthurt. I would have preferred that he just say we didnt get it done today and move on.

It's pretty silly to talk about a team that just beat you by multiple goals that they didn't try to win.
The other comments that were laughable were the ones about how they only try to win in a sporting manner.

I don't have a problem with him saying they parked two buses, because they did, but no sense in complaining about it

The soccer tactic is you pack everyone in and go for the tie or get a fluke goal and actually win. In this case, Gerrard's gaffe provided the fluke goal and so the tactic worked.

I agree. I think BR was frustrated, and it showed in these comments. He is young manager, and he will overcome this. To me the real test is to see how they respond against Crystal Palace. I'm afraid of that match now.

I disagree that defensive coaching is easy to coach. Mourhinho is the master of it. Numerous other teams try to park the bus as he does but aren't nearly as successful. That is down to coaching.
I'm not sure why Sturridge didn't start, but he probably should have. There were some moronic decisions made by 'Pool players after they went down one goal. Showed no composure, especially Gerard, who kept trying shots outside of the box, which were hopeful at best.

Jamie Carragher said Liverpool and Liverpool fans have no right to complain about this. Bc they used to do it in the 70's and 80's and he said his teams used to do it all the time even when Rafa was coaching.

And I didn't think we were that "desperate." We held the ball well, just struggled in the final third.
Seeing the film breakdown by Jamie and Gary today with their comments say otherwise. The crazy amount of shots outside the 18 and crosses were the most all year for you guys.

Thats what happens vs the best in the game. He couldn't overcome and deal vs Jose's tactics. Sometimes the best thing you can do vs a team that parks the bus and counter attacks is use the same tactic vs them.

The long shots are a tactic against a packed in defense. Its one of the only ways to beat it. Some were definitely desperate but you have to take long shots against that kind of defense.

How so if you have no clean shooting lanes on goal and the chances from outside the 18 are already low.
Liverpool in the 2nd half stop trying to create space to play into with players off the ball making runs. Instead they sat around outside the box took low % shots and made crosses that looked like United under Moyes.
