What a match. That was fun.
Nothing much to say. Even Downing had a good performance. Good enough for the gaffer to give him credit in the post match interview.
Allen to take the spot of Shelvey (who is raw yes but I love to watch him play) and possibly Sahin to replace Downing. This squad could be fun fun fun.

Sahin is more of a CM (Similar to Xabi Alonso), I dont think he would be playing on the wing...
I think Walcott, Tello or others mentioned could possibly come in and take Downing's role..

Was happy with shelveys play yesterday. Some good passes and some good instincts. Closed down on defense pretty well. Also a couple of bad passes and giveaways. But I do think there is a lot of potential for him. He won't be a liability as a sub/ occasional starter.
I do want to see if his play continues once we ge to stiffer opponenents.
Did gerrard lose a few more pounds - he looks skinnier and in better shape - looked quicker too - but it's very early in the year.

You're right. So many names being thrown out I just went with the one I read most recently. The list gets longer and harder to follow of people being linked.

TIFWIW
Anfield Mole ?@AnfieldMole
Looks like we will end with 1 of #Ramirez, #Johnson or #Walcott plus 1 loan between #Sahin and #Affelay and possible Tello also #lfc
Anfield Mole ?@AnfieldMole
after that we need to sell if we want #dempsey but #adam and #carroll dont fancy moving away , so will go to wire #lfc

I read a comment on another forum that said, it looks like Rodgers actually read the Gerrard Instruction Manual (unlike the past two)... That free role to attack and link up and interchange with the front 3. I totally agree... Rafa was the last that really gave him that freedom...
Ramirez, Dempsey would be a good buy to spell him in that role, so he doesnt burn out... They are also versatile enough to play on the wings, too...

Joe Allen deal is done. Will be announced later today or tomorrow.
He signed a 5 year contract on 40k/week wages. That's why they were willing to splurge on his transfer fee.
ETA And Bellamy to Cardiff has been made official on the LFC website. So far we've lost Kuyt, Maxi and Bellamy. 3 wide players that need to be replaced.

Those are fair wages. I'm guessing the agreed fee is the £15 million figure that has been floating around.

O.P. updated. I'll update again once Allen is officially official.

Yep. FSG has come out multiple times and said that they are more willing to pay higher transfer fees for players with low wages in order to save money in the long run.

I believe he got a £2mm signing on bonus, as well...

Jen Chang just said LFC will announce something player related in the next ten minutes or so.

This is a must watch Suarez vs Gomel
Suarez, Gerrard and Borini are going to do some magical things this season.

Great signing. Thought he looked the part in the Olympics. Now who's next?
ETA: Is the boss wearing a Rosary around his neck? Noticed it in a few pictures and was just curious.
