I agree in that regard, but lets face it, we played a game of chicken with Fulham and lost... so cough up the extra couple million and get the player in... we arent talking 10's of millions of dollars...

I do think the impact Dempsey could bring this summer > risking another season like the last.

I would agree if Clint weren't in the last year of his contract. You are essentially paying a lot of money for 1 year of service. We can have him on our own terms in a year from now. If we still want him.

I understand that we arent able to plunk down 20+ on a striker right now, but we need goals... and a couple million £'s arent going to off set the books that much

When a player is bought, a new contract is negotiated... the buying team doesnt absorb the old contract...

well yeah I agree, but my point is you can either wait a year and have him sign a new contract with zero monies paid to Fulham, or overpay Fulham and have him sign a new contract now.

Just heard that spurs bid for Dempsey has been accepted and he has signed. If true, this sucks.
