I defended Henderson in the deadline day thread for a while today
I saw that, but didnt want to stir it up again in there...
I thought he looked good yesterday and I know it was against Hearts, but Stewie looks like he may have found a place in the club, too...

Glad he rejected the swap. Very desperate business IMO.
Agreed. Would have been a terrible deal for Liverpool, why not just pay up the 7 million? With Lucas out and Spearing/Aquilani/Adam sold is there still not room for Henderson in the center? Not sure why Rodgers is so desperate to get him out the door.

It's interesting... King Kenny's signngs...
Carroll - out on loan
Adam - out
Henderson - offered
Downing - move to LB
Enrique - staying
Suarez - we'll keep him, I guess

If Henderson goes and Gerrard gets another knock, our midfield would be fricked. Not to mention Sahin is only here for a season.
The midfield is getting thin. We have no money though. Hope they just pony up the money.
He's a bright prospect for the future as long as he isn't played on the wing.

Not so much interesting as it is dire. Within 18 months the club is basically determined to sell the majority of the players he brought in at massive losses. Enrique and Suarez are obviously the only ones who have worked out to any degree.
Carroll+Downing+Adam+Henderson= about £85 million wasted. Henderson is the only one who has (could have?) a future at the club. Downing looked better against Hearts but trust me he is going to be found out in the EPL at fullback.

Yeah, he'll provide depth and hopefully pushes Enrique to perform. But yes. £20m for a squad guy.

We have to be chasing someone else...
LFC trying to fly under the radar?

I dont think he will be 1st choice LB, but against lesser teams, or as a change of pace/different look... he can be effective (I think)

Well there's this from ESPNFC:

Im seeing both LFC and Spurs are bidding on Clint

ESPN Soccernet's Jon Carter has just posted this: "Liverpool have made a move to sign Clint Dempsey. Discussions are ongoing and it's the move the American wants."
Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers told reporters of the Dempsey chase: "We have to wait and see. There are a number of players we are enquiring about."

I was actually going to post something to this effect earlier but didn't think it was worth going into. FWIW I agree, if Liverpool play the possession based soccer Rodgers wants I think Stewie could actually have some impact at LB. Obviously having Kelly opposite helps out too because he is capable of tucking in and becoming the 3rd CB if Downing moves forward from wing back. He's not a good defender at all though, and this will probably mean more early crosses from wide positions to nobody in the box.

Gonna be a crazy day hopefully. So pissed the house I'm staying at in BR doesn't have FSC and I have to waste all day getting gameday attire since all of my purple and gold stuff is in Nola.

Yep. It could be effective against certain clubs, but others would eat him alive (AKA Walcott).

Long time lurker, first time poster, but no better day than the transfer deadline right?
Anyway, totally agree on Henderson. I really like him as a CM, also have him rated slightly higher than Shelvey. Not to mention the fact he's only 22. He may not be the "next Gerrard" everyone's been so eager to find, but he definitely has enough potential to be an everyday starter in this system IMO.
But looking forward, hope we can still get the deal done with Deuce because not only does he offer goals, but he's versatile enough to play all over the place with the interchanging. Still would be nice to get another attacking option in (Sturridge on loan?)

Also regarding Henderson, I agree with the recent comments. I believe he just has a higher ceiling than Shelvey, but I also believe they can both feature together on the same squad.
