Seriously, if we can't sign this kid (who honestly was a bit of a gamble to begin with) without a manager-less Spurs outbidding us...who the frick are we realistically going to bring in to help turn this thing around?? People were mentioning names like Fernando Llorente and Edinson Cavani last year We can't even woo some guy who played half a season in Wales when we signed the manager he's supposedly buddy-buddy with. And yes, I'm mad.....

And I realize we've moved on from a couple pages ago, but damn, I really hope the girl in the midde is his misses...even over their head, in too deep squad players shouldn't have to settle for 1 or 4.

On a side note, how much better does 2 look when she's hanging out with 1 and 4...and Jay's been drinking. This girl is a 10 to him at this point, no doubt about it.

I'm not trying to imply anything here. I think the quote came from after the Messi all-star game.

Well if Spurs outbid us AND offered double the wages we were offering, LFC's situation really is irrelevant. You can't expect the kid to sign with us if Tottenham is going to offer 40k more a week no matter how much he loves Rodgers. That's a 2M difference over the course of a year.

With Tottenham being out of CL next season, they are in the same boat as Liverpool in terms of not being able to gamble in the transfer window(granted, they do have Modric and Bale to sell off). If they are willing to pay almost double the wages (going off the internet rumors) then they must really think this kid is the real deal. Considering that we haven't been seriously linked to any other truly impactful signings, why not try to come close to, if not match, Spurs offer? Rodgers obviously loves this guy and it would be an indication that the club is willing to buy the players he feels he needs to be successful.

Well the biggest reason is our current wage structure. Joe Cole and Aquilani are both sitting on higher wages than Suarez. Get one or both of them off the pay roll and they'll have a little extra to work with. After this season, Gerrard will also be off the payroll and thay frees up £140K. But if Gylfi wants 70k, he's not gonna get it from LFC.

Tottenham will probably have £60-70M to work with after Bale/Modric are sold. LFC reportedly has £30M to work with for the window. FSG doesn't want a repeat of last summer. They're handling this like a business with smart buys and are refusing to overpay according to their evaluation of the player.

But like I said earlier, the whole Tottenham situation is odd to me. I still wouldn't be surprised if we ended up buying him.

If it is truly a money over everything else (which it naturally is in sports), then Gylfi will sign for Tottenham. And good for him. I've already accepted it and moved on. Mainly because we do have other bodies who can play his role, and I would like to see if BR makes use of Aqua and Cole.

Seems like the link with Gaston Ramirez is heating up again... I'd gladly trade signing Gylfi for him... I think he has way more upside and is more versatile...

Sigurdsson to Tottenham seems to be complete. He passed his physical and has agreed to personal terms.

So, apparently Gylfi will decide between us and Spurs within 24 hrs... If you believe the latest round of tweets, he'd prefer playing for Rodgers, but his agent wants him to take the money (other reports have us sweetening the pot some, but not up to Spurs offer)

I would love to have the guy. With that said, I'm happy the owners are doing proper business. We don't need another Cole or Aquilani on the books. If he comes to LFC and does well, he will get a wage increase.

Hate to say it but I kind wish (not the right word for it) Carragher would retire. We could really use his wages.

Wasn't there talk about him transitioning into a coaching role? It's not likely that he's gonna be getting much 1st team minutes. Or was that just speculation?

And do we still try to land Ramirez if we get Gylfi? Ramirez money could possibly get us another winger/DM.
