It aint all bad.. I actually think most of it is good. The biggest objection is to the 2nd bullet, which gives most of the voting power to the big 6 clubs. If nothing else, it has forced the hand over clubs to get to the table and start talking reform..

There's some good stuff in there, but let's not pretend that it's not a veiled attempt to buy power.

well, clearly thats what the 2nd bullet is... but if nothing else, it points out changes are needed.. to my knowledge, there wasn't any talks forthcoming to discuss reform..
However, I can see how clubs that dont really have to worry about relegation have the same voting power, in any given season, as a club that bounces in and out of the premier league (like a West Brom or Norwich)..
But, I understand why there is backlash from supporters and other clubs... Especially towards Liverpool, Man U and to a lesser extent the other big 6

In short they are trying to bribe smaller clubs in this time of crisis and asking for total power

A quid pro quo... more than the other big 6 were offering... which was nothing.

If you have SiriusXM, go to SiriusXMFC 157 on demand and listen to the interview they did with Rick Parry, the EFL chief. He also was the guy who helped create the Premier League.
I found it a fascinating listen.

A couple make sense, but what's up with getting rid of the Community Shield?
I think it's a great kickoff to the season, and usually puts two good teams against each other.

Getting rid of the league cup is stupid
Smaller clubs thrive of those extra matches especially when playing away to a bigger club they take home a pretty nice chunk of change

Why is this dude always so triggered?

Glad you started this thread and I totally agree, and F Chelsea or any other club who supports them.

I'm not a fan of the league cup.. adds to all of the fixture congestion.. I think the Community Shield is a nice way to kick off the season, but dont really care. Getting rid of that goes hand in hand with pushing the start of the league back, I guess..

It’s been around 60 years and adds a much needed third competition for smaller clubs
The bigger clubs should have the squad depth to handle a fourth competition
So bitching about fixture congestion when you a top 20 richest club in the world is pointless

its been a big concern in English football for as long as I can remember... If they keep it, they keep it... and I won't complain when we roll out a youth team..
While I don't claim to be an expert on the financials of this deal, I assume the restructure of the TV money will make up for any loss of revenue for the smaller clubs...
edit: Sorry - 25% of PL and FL overall revenue, up from 4%

The issue is that caps what some clubs could make in the league cup if they progress
That’s why they take it seriously bc an away fixture at a premier league club can net them millions. Or any potential home match revue along with tv money. The cup gets the smaller clubs on sky a ton.
If anything ditch the EFL trophy

well, its a bigger guarantee instead of banking on a good cup run in any given season (which would only help that select few)... If it is a big concern for the FL clubs, then I dont think they'll go for it.. I would think they'd prefer the bird in hand...

It’s a pay off to from the top to protect their status
Why let other clubs determine what your earning power is

Liverpool and Manchester United are in talks about a bombshell plot involving Europe's biggest football clubs to join a new FIFA-backed tournament that would reshape the sport's global landscape. Sky News has learned that financiers are assembling a $6 billion (£4.6 billion) funding package to assist the creation of what could become known as the European Premier League.

This is some dirty shite. I started watching the league to see clubs like these play and have been following Liverpool since. But learning what the traditions and history of clubs like Villa, Palace, Leeds etc were the best part of the league and continue to be for me as much as my obsession with Liverpool. The kick in the nuts is my club is leading the charge on this nightmare.
