Last year it felt like Gakpo had a disappointing season for the most part, while Nunez had a great season, and it’s as if that had completely reversed this year.
It feels like Nunez is contributing very little most games.

I think Nunez is like having a poor man’sJamie Vardy up top.
He stretches the lines, makes great runs, and the CBs have to respect him because even though he misfires a lot, what happens if he gets hot?
He creates SO much space… it is ridiculous. It’s why Salah is always open down the wing. It’s why Gakpo has similar space and can make runs.
Instead of having a Firmino false-nine drag defenders upfield, Nunez demands that the CBs collapse toward him a bit. The player with the ball can then check the spaces with a simple look and then bomb it to the best option of the three.
The defense really can’t make a correct decision in that scenario. The top three are all viable, and throw in a midfield run or two? Hard as hell to stop.

Measuring stick game for Slot as a manager. These are the type of games that are classic Liverpool defeats… lower in the table but still decent.
