re: Liverpool 2023/2024: Farewell Jurgen Tour

I don’t see why not. He’s one of, if not the, most prolific Muslim athletes in the world. If he has an okay season by his own standards, they will throw a huge offer out. The bigger question is does Salah want to play there?

If we keep Mo (which I’m fine with) we won’t get anywhere near 200M for him next summer for 2 reasons: (1) selling him *now* puts Liverpool in a pinch, therefore they can demand a “premium” selling price to account for weakening the squad after the Europe transfer window has closed and (2) of the many reasons Al-Ittihad want Mo so dearly is to strengthen their squad for their coming participation in the Club World Cup. *If* they can win the Club World Cup, the Saudis believe that would place the Saudi Pro League solidly on the world’s competitive “map” along with the European leagues. There’s no guarantee they’ll be in that competition next year.
Additionally, next summer Mo will only have one remaining year on his Liverpool contract thus dropping his price even further.
So the question Liverpool have to answer is this: sell Mo now and have 200M added to Klopp’s transfer budget (a la the sale of Coutinho)? Or wait until next summer and, as a guess, sell him for around 80-90M?
I’m likely Mo’s biggest backer in this forum but, honestly man, if it’s a legit 200M offer and not half smoke and mirrors you gotta take it, right?

If it's £200 million upfront with no installment bullshite FSG should bite their hand off. Mo is 31 with 2 years left on his contract. Take the money and run.

Especially cause I don’t think anyone realistically thinks we’re gonna win the league. If we had title hopes…no way we sell him. Of course…Mo would play a big factor in our chances of winning the Europa
But if Klopp thinks he can finish top 4 without Mo then I’d say do it
Getting back in UCL is a must this season

I agree 100%. I think we finish top 4 without Mo as our midfield is miles better than last year and we're strong enough up front to deal with the loss.

I think the deal has been made
Mo plays the season and LFC does not
stand in his way next summer leaving
The figure has been discussed as well probably
We did the same thing with Suarez back in the day
(2015?)

Does this shite happen every time a star player is close to the end of their contract? The rumor mill is 10x that of any American sports league.

Suarez tried to leave in 2013 and said he had a gentlemen's agreement to leave if wee didnt qualify for UCL.. hence the infamous £40mm +1 from Arsenal.. Stevie talked him off the ledge...
He left in 2014 and the WC biting incident had a lot to do with that.. Club thought it was best for all involved to move him on...
We promptly squandered all that money..

Most clubs dont want to lose a player for nothing... so rumors do heat up.. European transfer reporting is more like the national enquirer than actual fact based reporting.. they will throw anything at the wall to see if it sticks.. anything..

And more fall out from the VVD/Newcastle shenanigans. Apparently this was for saying the red was “a f-ing joke”.
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has been slapped with a one-match ban and a £100k fine for his furious reaction to his Newcastle sending off.

I'd like to say the only difference between other sport leagues and European Football is that your main sports outlets don't run junk although I could just be lying to myself.

Glad club football is back! Interested to see the lineup this weekend. I know there was some concern with our SA contingent and the travel back. Hopefully Gravenberch gets at least a cameo.
On another note, Pearce confirmed this in regards to an earlier topic in the thread:
Liverpool valued Mason Mount at £40m earlier in the summer and wouldn't have matched Manchester United's £250k per week wages, Manchester United paid £60m.

So is Endo the next Liverpool purchase that Klopp is going to choose to never use?
Posted on 9/16/23 at 7:04 am to beatbammer
This is pathetic. Matip is fricking horrendous. Gapko slow. Horrid
