The ultimate goal for me is to still win the World Cup (or do the best we can) and have Jurgen left down in Brazil.

Dumbest shite ever. Should France have sat Zidane in 2006? Why did Pirlo go to the last Euros?
Agreed but it's a valid concern.

Based on recent reports, this looks false. Maybe Donovan takes longer to get fit? It is absolutely worth the risk.
Again, agreed. But he's said himself he can't hack it as well as he used to. Which raises a legitimate question.

I have never heard any issues of his attitude.
Then you haven't been listening. His attitude has been a concern for years. Again, IMO, well worth the risk. But a legitimate concern.

You don't punt World Cups

I would think an LSU fan of all people can understand being angry with the coach but still supporting the team.
I absolutely understand that. And I have no issue with it. That wasn't what was being said the other night, though. If everyone is onboard with supporting the team then I have no issue with anything involved in the situation. I was just commenting on what I read on the board the other night from some.

Does he cause team chemistry problems?
Is it a real attitude or are people not happy with that he is laid back, honest, and plays cocky on the field while shying away from being a leader?
He is friends with the veteran players. The closest thing we have heard to a team cancer in this cycle is supposedly Timmy Chandler.

Which is why you don't give a coach a contract through the next cycle. Which we did.

I've heard rumors of this over the years.

Being quiet =/= laid back. Honesty can always cause issues if your opinions have the potential of putting others off.

Eh, I've heard the veterans tolerate him, but by no means are they "friends." I don't invest anything in those rumors, but they exist, for what its worth.

So idiotic. I still can't believe this.

The veteran players and guys who play with him in MLS all seemed pretty disappointed in his exclusion.

Well its not like they can tell the media how awesome it is that Landon Donovan isn't going to Brazil. Lets be realistic here.

I don't think he punted this one. I think he has his spine and has for over a year at this point. The one exception is potentially Cameron at CB. Outside of that I think it is about matchups. Brad Davis is on this team because he is the greatest American set piece taker in history. He upgraded the roster athletically on the wings with Chandler, Yedlin and Green. Brooks is more athletic than Goodson and that is likely where the tie went in that 50/50. If they are playing a diamond you have Zusi and Bedoya shuttling.
All of this teeth gnashing is overshadowing the fact that this is a really fricking solid team. This team has the potential to be 2002. They will need some breaks but the upside of this team is pretty high.

How about people just making statements unprovoked on Twitter? Like Mike Magee, por ejemple

Thought him and Howard were friends.

Well that certainly goes to proving those rumors wrong. As I've already said, I don't put any faith in any of them, but they do exist. So that judgment call had to be made.

It's a good team because the pool is deeeper than it's ever been.
Ream, Feilhaber, Lichaj, Johnson, Spector, Shea, Williams, Torres, Agudelo. These are guys who didn't even make the 30.
No USMNT coach has ever been given more to work with.

I'm not trying to call you a cholo or anything here, I'm just skeptical of Klinsmann.

It's one of the reasons that I am so fired up. Just four years ago, Robbie Findley and Edson Buddle were on the roster and being counted on. This is what makes being a US fan so exciting, each cycle is better than the last. The results may not show it but it is happening.
I always have an eye on the U-17s the same year as the World Cup because those will be 20-21 years olds in the next cycle. This crop of U-17s have been beating the hell out of everyone.

I am too. I think he tarded out big time. And if we pay for it in the big dance he's earned a firing, IMO. But I'm not there yet, because as stupid as I thought the decision was, I'd like to give him the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't done for purely personal reasons.
