Klinsmann question for the regulars

Do you guys feel that he deserves to be dismissed after comments from the Gold Cup?
I had been seeing all summer and spring that this was a tournament they had to win. Yet the team does not make the finals. He then flippantly, in my opinion, says they accomplished their goal in a post tournament answer.
I am not sure the direction or pieces of this team are going the same way. It seems the call ups and sit downs are just puzzling at times.
What do you guys think?

For his comments after the Gold Cup? No.
For a number of other factors? Yes.

What factors? I think he failed his team in the tournament and then threw them under the bus with his comments.

Klinsmann's comments are generally retarded and should be taken with a grain of salt.
"Club form is very important"
- calls up players who aren't playing for their club while others who are playing very well don't get a sniff
"Our centerbacks are the best in the pool right now and they just got unlucky"
- no, actually, they were pretty sub par while guys like Besler didn't even get called up
"We are going to play attack-minded football."
- we basically get outshot by every team we play, regardless of level (exceptions being Cuba and a bunkering Jamaica after going up 2-0)
"There are a few players who are just 'a little bit ahead of' player X"
- Joe Corona gets called up despite clearly being worse than other options in our pool, Landon Donovan doesn't make the plane to Brazil, etc.

What factors?
1. A national team manager shouldn't get more than one cycle
2. A manager should be consistent. Jurgy has not been (:cough: Ibarra :cough:)
3. A manager should not attack the national league. Jurgy has on multiple occasions.
4. Jurgy has not accomplished what he stated were his goals: (a) to play an exciting, attacking style (b) to help our fitness (c) to make us noticeably better

J.K. is building the team in the right way. We crushed Jam. and they got a lucky goal and a freak foul call.
Who cared about the 3rd place game ? No one, and J.K. didn't start his best team.
His biggest fault is trying to make Bradley the guy that leads the charge up field, Bradley is much better at sitting back and coming onto the ball.
He needs to find a different man for Bradley's job and we will be ok, Bradley is giving the ball away way to much.

Just to ask if you think he needs to be released from his duties, who does and should US Soccer go get?
I guess the results, other than this last tournament have been exactly where they should be, I do not see US Soccer as a top 8 team in the world.

He should not be dismissed.
In a very "German" way, there is usually a practical method to his madness, which includes the weird call ups. It's all about the long-term plan, with some concessions to short-term results. Gulati knows this and is on board with Jurgen's overarching plans, knowing that sometimes unpopular decisions will be made.
The Donovan situation last summer was an outlier, that was a personal issue with Jurgy and his beliefs regarding untouchable athletes, which was clear to most people paying attention bc Landy could've helped us in the WC.
Jurgen is on board throughout this cycle barring a disaster, so other than a need to vent (which is understandable watching us at times), I don't see a huge benefit in discussing his job ad nauseum.

In a concise way, he should only retain the job, if he wins my proposed national FIFA contest. Console is TBD.

Wasn't this Low's second cycle?

A competent manager would have realized this by now, ended this year-long "Bradley as a 10" experiment, and called up Feilhaber or at least given Nguyen more than 20 minutes of playing time over several friendlies.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying, especially regarding the German methodology.
I disagree with this point, he's excluded a bunch of players for petty shite (Besler and Feilhaber come to mind, as well as the demotion/dismissal of Bocanegra), and excluded clearly capable players (Bradley early in his tenure, Lichaj still) so he can include the incapable (Ibarra), the indifferent (Chandler) and others like them (Gordon, Davis).
It's also pretty clear that Jurgen doesn't hold the Germans (mostly Brooks early on, Williams, Morales, Wood, Green and Brek Shea, who I think looks German enough to confuse Jurgen) to the same standard of "playing first team, top division football" that our "American" and Hispanic contingent consistently are held to.

All true, but we dominated and should have beat Jam. I don't blame the team for the Pan. game, it shouldn't even be played.
Where I love J.K. is the emphasis on the youth programs, we have some nice talent coming up, and meshing them together with this team should make us better.
Sure, he should have played Yeldin and Mix more, but we need depth, and by playing more players he is building that depth.
We need to being a new 10 into the mix and we need a forward with speed.

If that is really even remotely true (which yes we all believe it is) then he should be terminated immediately. The world cup is why you have a national team and if you inhibit your teams chances to win, you should lose your job.
I'm a sales manager and if I pulled my best rep because I wanted to prove he wasn't above board, my company would fire me and probably kick me in the nuts on the way out.

He was given a new contract before the world cup, so he knew he could act with impunity.
