He'll need to keep scoring goals. He's on the wrong side of thirty to go through a big drought next spring.

Right now Gomez and Beckerman are shaping up to be this cycle's Pablo Mastroeni and Brian Ching. Part of the team throughout the qualifying cycle, and left at home when the roster is named.

I think his versatility is being overstated because of his speed. Nothing against him, but he doesn't have a versatile skill set IMO and saying he's inconsistent may almost be complimenting him too much.

How is it being overstated when he is comfortable enough on the ball and fast enough to be able to play both wings in addition to up top.

Agreed. Is he marginal at those positions? Sure.

But why not bring one marginal player, instead of bringing, say, Wondo *and* Bedoya?

Jurgen deserves credit for building a lot of versatility within the reserves. Just between Cameron and Johnson/Gomez, you have two guys that can play anywhere on the field.

That goes a LONG way when building a WC roster.

JK doesn't like Cameron at RB BECAUSE He's looked a bit lost there when he's played for the national team

FIFY

If Cameron does well at RB at Stoke this season, that means by definition that he grows into an EPL quality RB, which means JK will have to consider playing him there. Especially if Dolo/Chandler aren't manning that spot and Cameron isn't needed to start anywhere else.

IOW it is premature to rule him out.

I really wish we could have seen Boyd play and play alot with this Gold Cup squad. Hard to know whether he really deserves inclusion in the WC squad when he barely ever gets on the pitch.

I think you answered your own question

Couldn't agree more. Besides our great play of late this to me has been the most encouraging thing. Guys willing to play positions they are not completely comfortable with and doing decent/good jobs when doing so.

Which is great when you're winning.

When you're losing, it makes guys look like they don't know how to play, and it makes the coach(es) look like a jackass.

I want Cameron on the field. I would take him at CB or RB. I just like him a lot recently, or have I not seen enough of him?

I just think that, if you are down to your last striker on the depth chart, I would rather Terrence Boyd going up against other world cup teams than Wondo.

I think he is quicker, has more technical ball skills, and is more of a physical presence.

But if you're throwing everything you have at a last second heave, you want Chris Wondolowski, because he's a Goonie. And Goonies never say die.

I realize that Boyd is physically more gifted than Wondo, but at this point He's raw talent. When T-Boyd learns to play the game, he'll be in the World Cup. At this point, he doesn't provide anything that Jozy doesn't already.

I still have some hope that Joshua Gatt can get it all together by WC. Besides that, most people have a similar lineup that I would have.

He's gonna have to get it together in a hurry, and almost certainly will not have competitive matches to prove his worth in.
