Per the rule, it’s the correct call, unfortunately.

Yeah, they ended up getting it right by letter of the law. Don't like it, but is what it is.

Mainly mad that they didn't just give Spurs a freekick after playing advantage on the foul on Lucas.

Heard on the soccer channel on XM earlier that out of 41 matches played on Sheffield’s home ground, Spurs has only won 6 times. Also, SHU is the only club Kane has not scored against in the PL.

Random, unnecessary rant: The high boot rule is one of the stupidest rules in professional soccer.

I'd argue that 99% of the time, professional players are in complete control of their boot and win the ball cleanly. However, it's deemed a foul regardless of any contact. They really should re-write the rule for it to be legal, and then if a player does catch somebody with his boot to then just card him accordingly.

It's happened a few times in this match and it's just an annoying stop of play.

Yeah it’s a really retarded rule. I get why they changed it, but there are just as many issue with how it’s used now.

It's really just dangerous play. While the player may be in control of his foot, he's not in control of what the other player is doing.

Like I said, just card them accordingly if contact is made. We do the same for every other type of challenge. (Minus really, really stupid ones where they're obviously trying to leave something on the opposition and just fail to do so.)

It just comes across as a very youth type rule to me where players don't have the body control that pros do.

While Spurs were atrocious, I don't think anyone was beating Sheffield today after they scored the first goal.

That defense is legit.

It's just to prevent injuries and keep the game moving. Just don't bring your foot to chest level when players are around you. Same reason a foul is called on you for sitting on the ball.

Pool will be on holiday mentally. City will get a win and the media will claim they are favorites for the title next year
