Jack Rodwell warns English youngsters over joining Man City

He's right. His big money move to City pretty much derailed his career and stunted his development.
quote:
"I would weigh up your options and ask yourself if you want to be playing regularly," Rodwell said.
"I would probably say, 'don't sign now; get as much football as you can'."
He added: "The first thing I'd ask is, 'how good are you?' You just never know - you could go there, do really well and be winning league titles and everything.
"But just because you're English and young, it doesn't mean you're not going to play for Manchester City."

Seems less directed at Manchester City and more like a warning in general to all younger players to be careful leaving good situations to go to any of the top teams with ridiculously stacked rosters.
I couldn't agree more but kids will always all have stars in their eyes and block out any voice of reason and come, like Rodwell, to see what they should have done after they sit on the bench a couple of seasons.

It's a simple case of "the best players play" and Rodwell isn't one of City's best players. He had his chances when he first came in and he was pretty terrible.

Yeah, having arguably the best porn star name in football only goes so far.

To me Jonny Steele is a pretty solid porny-sounding name.

Yes, he and Jack Rodwell have the makings of a solid midfield combo on the All-PornStar-Name Best 11

He was a moron if he thought it was going to go any other way. He put money first and deserved what he got.

Yeah he certainly had some bad luck with that nagging (hamstring?) injury but you knew from the minute they signed him he wasn't going to make it.
Before and after they were flaunting cash like shore leave midshipmen at a Tijuana strip club toward DMs like De Rossi, Ronaldinho etc. . .
Sinclair purchase was similar.
All the cash splash clubs do this every summer though on a lot of "borderline" young players it seems everyone --except those directly involved --know will never break into the regular rotation.

He was always injured at Everton, too...
City signed him the same summer when they signed those other average English players, to meet their need... Everyone knew they would waste away there..

It's a shame what injuries have done to his career.

And same with him, to an extent. He's played well this year in a new situation.
