It is communicated to the fourth official who will hold up a sign letting everyone know how much extra time is added. But again, that's not the official time. The players and coaches can ask the center official how much time is left any time they want.

So the game won't end until there's a cleared ball? So an offensive team could keep pressing and the game would continue even if it was technically over?

If a team has the ball in a dangerous area as time expires, usually the ref won't blow the whistle until the defense gets a stop (which is usually about a second later). Kinda like football, where play continues until it's dead, even after the clock runs out.

Not necessarily, the attacking team has to make an effort at goal. If the ref deems that the attack has stalled, regardless of the ball being cleared, he'll blow the whistle for full time. Sometimes, a ref won't even allow a corner to be taken, if the attacking team has gone over the allotted stoppage time.

Makes sense. Still don't like the massive amount of control one person has over the game. But that seems like an issue a lot of people, even here, have.

You are correct. Time just usually isn't an issue
Referee power is worse in places like Spain where they don't really bother punishing people if the ref didn't see it, e.g., both parties went unpunished here

Ok lets say player x for team y gets a broken leg from a hard tackle. It may take 3-5 minutes to get him off the field and his replacement on. This does not happen every game, but can you not see how this might effect the time being kept? You need the team physios, the stretcher team etc to get him off the field. Not every injury is as severe but whenever a head injury might be in play, soccer like every other major sport errs on the side of caution. so there is more stoppage time. Will it be the same every game, no. The sooner you grasp it, the easier it will be, unless you are arguing for the sake of arguing like others have said.

Games are 90 minutes, correct? The stoppage is supposed to account for delays in the game such as an injury, no?

Stoppage time is 6 minutes, right?
I understand that stoppage isn't the same in each game. But it should be an accurate reflection of the stoppages that did occur in the previous 90 minutes.

I'm not. I'm confused as to what he said was anything different than we were already clear on?
He copied my "I'd hope I would be playing the same time for each game." Post, which I thought was clear in that I hoped each game would last 90 minutes.
