It's gotta be tough for these guys, most of them play in Europe and theyre coming off long seasons played in extremely temperate to cold weather. Now they have to go to the Caribbean in the middle of summer and play against an athletic energized Jamaican side who's used to this sort of weather, and who's club games have little to no meaning compared to WC qualifiers.
I'm sure our guys know they're important, but qualifying for the WC is a pretty much a formality at this stage in us soccer. They'll play up to the big boys like Mexico or come WC time, just like we did against Russia, Italy and Germany in friendlies. Even the European powers struggled against shite teams on the road in WCQ, look at Croatia who lost to Scotland at home today. Probably as big a talent gap as between us and Jamaica

We really do seem to run out of gas on the road games. I can't remember us being this winded during theses WCQ away matches, but its definitely been an issue against Honduras and Jamaica.

Did we run out of gas or just try too hard to sit on our lead?

Set plays and back 4 are achilles heel of this team. Otherwise we are pretty solid national club

I was a USA sunshine pumper for as long as I can remember, but Klinsy has officially lost me. I just have to disagree. Results do matter, but not when you're playing this poorly. Granted it was a hard road game, and I'm proud of the guys for pulling it out. But the breadth of work is more telling.
you are going to eat these words when we make it to the last 16 of the WC

Just wanted to chime in on a few observations from last night..
Things I liked:
Zusi to Jozy is turning out to be a pretty awesome combo
First touch passes seem to be getting much better with this team finally!
Much more creativity on the attacking end
Bradley is very underrated - dude is solid
Things I didn't like:
Gonzales still has his usual frick up every game
The final 10 min of the game and our backline just continually shites the bed
Probably should have put GAM a little bit earlier and keep Jozy a little bit more fresh for Panama
Other than that - I think this was about as good as we can expect...a tough win on the road. Love it.

I hear you man. I'm not really a fan of him either, but if he can just get us to Brazil, then I'll be OK with his time at the helm. I don't see his contract being renewed for a 2nd cycle.

My only concern is *getting* to the WC. There's nothing I see that shows that Klinsmann will get us further than our 2010 showing, and that's okay. Most of that is your group draw, and the group you're drawn against in the knockout rounds.
We could have had Jesus Christ at striker and Vince Lombardi on the sidelines in '06.... we weren't getting out of that group.
The three points on the road last night were huge. It gives us an opportunity to frick something up down the road, without jeopardizing qualification.
I give Klinsmann a lot of crap... but I appreciate his enthusiasm on the sideline. I'd imagine it gets old(for the players) after a while, but he appears to be a great motivator.

What's your point? Six starters on the Jamaica team played club ball in England or Germany this season while all three subs played in either England or Scotland...

I doubt that the supporters of Reading, Leeds, Sheffield, Bristol, Huddersfield Town, Kahrlsruhe, and Motherwell would say that their club games are meaningless any more than they would say that their weather is tropical...

Yeah, I didn't really understand why the club games for Jamaica's players weren't important. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

There's nothing I see that will get us remotely close to winning the (world cup) group again. You're right, that is entirely dependent on the group draw, but unless we get a cake walk, I wouldn't be surprised if we got knocked out with 0 wins in whatever group we end up in.

I read it as an assumption that no Jamaicans play overseas, while in reality only Woodbine, Powell & Hue play in Jamaica... Heck, even the 2 MLS players they started are in a Northern location (Portland)!

It's not like getting out of the group in the last world cup was some feat. we got lucky to get out of it much less win it. if we had that same group, I'd choose this team with jurgy over the 2010 squad. I feel like this team is starting to gel, if the back line can be more consistent, we have a great chance of making s respectable showing next year.

I had to DVr the game and watch it after work last night so I missed this whole thread.
Sorry if its been posted already but am I the only one who thought Fabian Johnson had yet, another ineffective game in the midfield, and Beasely had another shaky game at LB. Beasely gets forward well and has incredible makeup speed but he was getting ran by last night alot. And I don't know who to suggest at LM besides FJ, Donovan if he were here. I'm in the anti-Brad Davis camp, he brings a powerful left foot but not much else, need a more pacey player there imo.
Solid game by Besler and OmarG, and what about the savior himself, Mr. Bradley Evans.
Zusi showed again that he's not going to relinquish that spot to Cakes, my guess is one of them will play LM come brazil '14, but we are slowly solidifying the front 1/3 of our National Team. Altidore with the nice goal, he's deadly when he gets enough service as we all know. Deuce didn't do a whole lot and I thought Snowfro played above average but not at the level he played against Germany. Another solid game from MB90, almost had a goal on the volley that hit the woodwork.
You can see us playing Klinsmann's possession style offense (at times it's pretty and at times it's not). Are we silky smooth yet? Not close, but we are starting to jell and we have a whole year to fine tune it, but guys were hitting touch passing alot last night and looking for the triangles for quick passing. That being said... We still cough the ball up too much when we inexplicably boot the ball downfield from our back 4 typically, at least 7-8 times we just gave it up without even making a run downfield for the pass. That has to be cut our to compete with the big boys where every possession matters( Belgium and Germany showed us this.)
Klinsmann also was über vocal last night, yelling to the midfield and getting on guys. You could hear him telling to look for the simple pass all night, and when we clicked it was often when we were hitting 1 and 2 touch passing, not when we started playing kickball..
All in all I'll take the result gladly, and the fact we used a lineman twice in a row for the 1st time

I guess to each his own, but there is no way in hell I'd choose this team over the 2010 WC squad.

I just remember not being impressed with the results, and luck being the only factor in the win against England. thank God for Robert green.
