I think it's pretty clear that both of their left feet make contact... Like someone said, doesn't look intentional, but is goings draw the card every time...

There's a different angle that shows Young and Ivanovic touch. I have no problem with that. It sucked but the back line was shite on that play and we should have never been in that position. Ivanovic was beat like a drum on that through ball, cest la vie.
Now the Torres call was dreadful. Evans contacted Torres no question and went in cleats up. Evans was reckless on that play. I think Torres went down because he was fouled. Who's to judge how hard he was hit? The slightest of contact can throw off your stride and trip you. Just look at catching your toe on the sidewalk, you're walking and trip. Torres was sprinting and was hit twice on the leg. That's a foul.
The offside was "behind the GK" because, by rule, any part of your body is offside. So his leg being behind Cech meant he was way off. But that's on the AR. They are there to call that to assist the head ref. He cant make that call.
Also Mikel should probably have been sent off and Rooney; so all around this ref had a bad day at the office. The thing was that Chelsea got the biggest screw job of the teams.

If we aren't down to 9 men Mikel isn't having to try and chase Valencia back in the corner. The game was over at that point anyway.
As for Rooney, in normal circumstances, I would say that's never a 2nd yellow but after bending us over right before that the ref could have at least somewhat atoned for his mistake.

Indeed. It's just ridiculous. The conversation is all over the place in terms of how it should be addressed. Perhaps the only surprise is that it hasn't happened more considering the PL's a rather cosmopolitan league.

Not just racism, but football as a whole. Somehow the game is being neglected in favor of controversy (diving, racism, adultery, wages, etc).
It's annoying, really, and it has made "news" unbearable recently.

Well controversy is interesting. That sells papers. The flipside of this is times like the Muamba incident, when everyone seemed united. I just think the conversation that results from discussions of race in England are idiotic.

Well it's a pretty significant difference between a player saying something and the ref.
However, the race thing is not the issue to me. If the ref had simply called Mata a "twat" without adding Spanish it would still be unacceptable behavior from a match official. Who knows what he said to Mikel?
I think we are probably just trying to make sure that lesbian never officiates one of our matches again and we know that race is the hot button issue that will get the most attention.

Which is why it is bogus... Granted i don't actually know, but the refs are all miked up so this should be a fairly easy investigation (relatively speaking of course).. And of course if he actually said these things, he should get a long if not permanent ban. If not, those who cried foul should but prbly won't get punished.

Agree, I guess I was just pissed when the Rooney thing happened. I'll have to go back and look with fresh eyes to see if it should have been a yellow "in normal circumstances".

In regards to Clattenberg, if he is found guilty, they better have more proof than "they feel that version is the most believable"
