Is it possible that missing the World Cup, and the pressure of being the face of the USMNT at such a young age has broken Pulisic?

He has had a ton of pressure put on him by US soccer fans, and has had a lot of crappy situations happen in his club career. He went from the Dortmund wonder child to being overshadowed by Sancho. He transfers to Chelsea and is getting overshadowed by Mount and cannot even crack the 18 some games. I was talking with a Chelsea supporter from London at a bar the other night, and he said Pulisic is considered lazy and not tough enough to play in the EPL by Chelsea fans.

We desperately need Weston or Adams to step up and take some pressure off of him for the USMNT. Does he maybe need a loan away from Chelsea to get some PT and get his head back on straight.

Don't get me wrong, he is still one of our 3 best players, with GOAT potential, but he seems to be in a really bad place mentally right now. His breakdown after being subbed off last night really said a lot IMO.

I love the kid but on the real

He was getting phased out at BVB once they brought some stud players in.

He moves to Chelsea for a manager who didn't want him. He's going to have to fight every day in training to get playing time on the pitch.

This is probably the best thing for him at this age to get him in an eviroment where he has to fight for his place in the team day in day out.

Thats what we need all of our players doing and thats why so many feel MLS is having a negative impact on the USMNT.

Apparently he was dealing with some flu-like illness. SBI interviewed him last night and he sounded pretty dejected.

The whole federation is broken, so he's probably broken too.

Pulisic is a good player, but he was WAY overhyped.

He is a useful player, but at a club like Chelsea he will never be a week in/out starter unless there are injuries or if he hits a great stretch of form.

He needs Pedro and willian to leave as well, but Chelsea will almost certainly bring in another wide player when that happens and CHO looks like he is going to be a stud as well.

Relative to what? He's definitely the most talented 21 year old that our country has produced.

All of this. One of my long standing criticisms of his was his sort of passive nature on the pitch at times. He makes it very easy for teams to just play around him on defense for example. You never really saw him getting in the passing lanes, sticking a foot in and breaking up a pass. He always looked like he was doing just enough to make it look like he was working on that end. Just going through the motions. And I think Frank notices that, and has more or less called him out for it, among other things, by benching him.

Im hoping that all of the hurdles over the past couple seasons, for club & country, make him a tougher player in the end.

It was for the U-21s, but CHO looked awesome again yesterday. Pulisic's only real hope is Chelsea choosing to invest in a legitimate CB/LB with the bulk of their money next year. Otherwise, he'll at best be a sub when the club buys a winger to play across from CHO.

I think this experience for him will ultimately show if he has the mental fortitude to compete at the highest level.

Never is a long time. Fabinho was on the outside looking in for Liverpool when he made the transition to the league, so it’s not like other solid players haven’t struggled with the change. Plus as SCH mentioned he is coming into a situation where the coach didn’t purchase him. That makes it tough. And Chelsea playing a 3-4-2-1 or whatever the hell formation they are using doesn’t where he has excelled professionally, as a winger.

Relative to the rest of the world and players a similar age.

I agree that he is by a good amount the most talented player we have produced.

Could also name Bernardo Silva and Mahrez for City.

I agree that Pulisic needs some time, but like someone else said, his manager didn’t want him and seems much more attracted to the English youth in the squad than Pulisic. The guy is struggling to make the bench....that isn’t a good sign.

Yea he’s good and is setting a blue print on how young Americans need to be developed but he could be just the start of American potential

But seeing Sancho come in and force him to the bench showed we got a long way to go

In Pulisic’s defense Sancho is an absurd talent and probably the best U20 player on the planet right now.

This is true. But he also looks like a worse option than a guy who has barely played any senior soccer that is coming off an Achilles tear 6-7 months ago.

It was an Achilles injury though right? But yeah you’re right. Not a great sign. Hopefully Pulisic picks it up as he gains more familiarity with the team and the country.

Relative to that
He’s overhyped for being an American
He’s the best 21 year old we’ve produced but what does that amount to?

He’s a good player with a high ceiling, he just isn’t there yet

Jurgen Klopp needs to offer Chelsea and Lampard a gentleman's offer of around £10M to take that poor, confused kid off of their hands.

Yeah, even worse.

Pulisic will end up being fine, I think. But he's not the guy everyone wants him to be currently. There are flaws to his game, and they're being exposed. He has to improve and he has to seize opportunities. Even Frank will be on a short leash, so he doesn't have the luxury to wait on pulisic to up his performances.
