not much has changed with our USMNT squad.
Wondo is in our qualifying squad.
Edgar catillo (29) is a defender again.
Kyle beckerman is STILL jermain jone's replacement.
Jozy is hurt.
Maybe its Monday and that why I feel not too optimistic, but I thought by 2 years into the "post WC/youth movement" we would see more new/talented faces.
I know some guys are with the U-23 squad against Columbia, but I feel like our USMNT squad is actually worse now than before the 2014 WC.

Jurgen sucks. We should all be used to it by now.

Its not just you. The only thing I'm enjoying is Fabs proving he is our best player and should be a LM. Also John Brooks reclaiming his spot and beginning to show potential of being one of the starting CBs

I don't understand Pulisic being left off the U23 roster. Sometimes I think Jurgen takes the "we're bringing him along slowly" philosophy for the sake of taking it. The kid is ready for first team minutes at Borussia fricking Dortmund but not the US U23 team? Hell, he should be with the senior squad

I try to be an optimist about the situation. For example, I think about how we are a little over 2 years away from no longer having Klinsmann as USMNT manager.

I think he's there only because of injuries.

I don't think Dortmund had to release him.

Well, you wouldn't want to bring in Kitchen since he just got to a new team.

What about Trapp and Morales? I thought Beckerman always performed solidly and deserved more respect than he received but he really began to show his age in the Gold Cup.

Exactly. We were a shite show in the gold cup.
How the hell did we beat Ghana, almost beat portugal and then finish 4th in the gold cup?
I am not sure what to expect for the copa america. We will be against the concacaf's best (which is better than/equal to us) and top teams from south america.

Doesn't matter.
Russia is winning WC 2018.
Everyone else is just going to be a spectator to greatness.

I'm negative about the manager and about the player pool, especially the prime age player pool. Granted we have some promising youth players, but where are the 25-30 year olds playing at a high level?
Whether or not the players are out there, the manager has to make the best of what he does have, and it goes without saying that at this point Jurgen has a lot to prove to show he's done anything like an admirable job of doing that.

You're right. I don't know why any USMNT threads even exist.

It's kind of our lost generation. Not a lot have stepped up, and none to Dempsey/Donovan/Brad Davis(/s) levels. I think Holden could have been that star player for us, but we know what happened there.
We do have: Williams, Johnson, Cameron, Gonzales, Bradley, Besler, Ream, Bedoya, Nguyen, Feilhaber, Jozy, and Lichaj all playing at a high level, who are in that age group. I'm sure there are others but that's just off the top of my head.
ETA: lol @ the jurgy fan boy down voting everyone in this thread

I used to be big fan of Jurgy, but not anymore. lately Jurgy is achieving less than past managers. It's sad.
Worst case scenario he will be fired/retire at some point in the next 50 years.
