And if so how good is this USA team? Or was this just desperation that had them playing so well today and it was an aberration?

Ghana is a team built for the counterattack. After we scored so early we really never gave them a chance to counter. But they are fantastic at what they do.

If Ghana was in a different group, they'd be, at least, quarterfinals bound.

Very athletic and younger than the Ivorians. They are quite easily Africa's best team. This group is a fricking killer.

And come this time tomorrow, the US will officially be the only squad to have clinched a spot in the knockout rounds

In 2009, Ghana won the FIFA U-20 World Cup (Held in Egypt). They defeated Brazil in a Penalty Shoot-out 4-3 (Match ended Fulltime at 0-0). As a side note, the US team did not advance out of the group stage.

At least 4-5 players off of that squad are starting for Ghana in this year's World Cup. On top of that, they have the youngest squad in the tourney. Baring injury, inconsistency or a complete breakdown, Ghana will be a force to be reckoned with in the near future and definitely a candidate to make a deep run in 2018.

From what I've seen they're the team best conditioned in the field for sprinting for 90 minutes. It seems like they just don't let up. An extra pass here or there instead of an ill advised shot and Ghana might have 6 points

They are pretty good, which is why people bitching about the US quality of play in the first game made me laugh

Wasn't the average are of their starting 11 last time something ridiculous like 23/24?

Having said that their final ball is probably the worst in the tournament so far

They've made the knockouts the last two world cups.

They are quite good and extremely athletic. They make it very difficult for other teams to play their own game normally.

They are leaps and bounds by far the best team in Africa and passed Nigeria a while ago. They will only get better.

They are far and above the other African nations in developing young talent and then shipping it to Europe. Also pays off that so many live in England and Germany.

I'm glad Harrison didn't play against us. KPB didn't do much at all against Germany.

I guess we were right to "bunker" after scoring early, given how good Ghana is at countering.

Ghana is pretty good and we were very fortunate to beat them.

They are a bit shaky in the back 4 though but outside of our goal :30 in our midfield passing was not good enough to really give us a chance to exploit it.

Their set piece defending also is terrible and the reason they are not top of the group right now.
