For the sake of the argument, lets say he regains the form that he had pre-Jonny Evans. Obviously Bradley is untouchable in the midfield, so that leaves Jones. Are we confident enough in the strength of our backline to sacrifice a CDM like Jones in favor of a playmaking mid like Holden to pair with Bradley?

frick, why can't he be a winger?

He led the epl in tackles up until his injury a few years back. Holden in for jones is perfectly acceptable to me. I'd say it's more likely that we would see the 3 of them together though.

So something like this? (putting Donovan in just because he is still one of our best players).

Yeah I'd say that pretty much represents our best chance for WC2014 at this point.

if you switch Stu with Dempsey then you have it, i don't think they will start Deuce on the wing

Are you saying to put Stu on the wing? I don't think that would be a very good idea.

It's been tried in the past, but Stu is much better/useful in the middle.

Yes they will, he just won't be a true winger IMO.

The thought of Shea and Donovan at wingers and Dempsey/Bradley/Holden somewhere in the midfield makes me excited to see the attacking presence that this could bring

Throw the captains band on Bradley and that lineup is as solid as it gets imo

If the SB had to put a percentage on the chances that Stu plays a significant role for the US in WC2014, what would it be?

I'd put it around 65%

I really hope we call him up for the Gold Cup this year, if he's healthy. Yeah, it will be a bunch of B-teamers, but just to get him back in the pool.

Looks good, but I really hope Chandler can progress enough to become a starter. I really don't want put a 35 year old defender on the field at the World Cup.

Steve defies the usual age logic though. Obviously this is his last cycle, but, when healthy, he is still playing RB at a level to where I would have no problem starting him. I still think he is better than Chandler and the only reason people say otherwise is difference in age.

Cherundolo admits he's old and makes sure to do some extra stretching. He admitted so in an interview.
