Klinsmann wipes his arse with Landon Donovan. He's got 11 World Cup goals to Donovan's 5. Have some respect.

Is Klinsmann suiting up for the U.S.?

I don't fricking think so.

Not having Landon won't make or break this team. We've seen the U.S. can win without him but he's an asset. He's got experience, skill, and a killer instinct. If we are in a close or tie game, I'm so much more confident with him on the field then anyone else.

If a fan doesn't get pissed off that one of our best players was not selected purely based off personal differences then... I don't know. I really hate calling people bad fans, but I think your missguided at how important Donovan is to this team, and in a big tournament.

Why does everyone keep saying this as if it is fact? Donovan took the time off. I'm a big fan. A good fan would see that the WC is more about the team than an individual. It's not like he's been in form lately. I just don't really see this as a big deal. I don't think we are any better or worse without him.

Apparently Klinsmann's son thought it was hilarious that Donovan got left out, but has since deleted the tweet and apologized for it.

Ah, gotcha. You have a point there in regards to pure results on the field at the Gold Cup.

But I'm with Bho. He doesn't seem mentally or physically all there. Not enough for him to be a huge factor at the World Cup.

He took time off after spending an unprecedented about of time with the USMNT. Damn near unprecedented in the history of international soccer for a position player. Seriously.

And then he came back. And he was hands down the best player on the field for the team in the Gold Cup.

It's simple man.

Klinsman wanted a fit team.
Landon is and will not be fit.
He was cut.

End of story.

Beginning of another story.

I think the reaction here is probably fueled by disappointment.

If LD were in shape and playing against Portugal and Ghana at least as sub I'd give us a hell of a lot better odds.

It may sound nice to say "move on" but when the USMNT only has a couple of players in our entire pool that are likely capable of world class performances against world class competition, I'm not sure we have the luxury to leave off one of them.

If LD is so out of shape that he isn't a better option off the bench than an even older Brad Davis I'm not sure why he was even called into the group of 30.

He's been really poor for LA this season to be fair.

Like this has been his worst start to the season since I can remember.

He doesn't have the pace to beat defenders one-on-one anymore, and hasn't been as incisive in front of the goal.

At this point, Bedoya and Zusi are on par if not better than Landon. It sucks, but if Jurgen is really all about form over reputation, then Landon Donovan doesn't really deserve a spot.

He's been shite all season. FWIW to me it's simple. If I'm the coach the "I'm not sure I like soccer anymore" is the exact attitude that I don't want on my team. Sorry, I just don't think he was going make a difference on our result at this years WC. It's over. Time to move on.

Why did Jurgen not check this board before making his decision???

Maybe, just maybe he knows a little bit more of the inner workings/dynamics of his USMNT squad then a lot on here.

I guess we have a lot of mad #10 usa kit buyers. Being upset is one thing but this cry baby bullshite is hilarious.

The team comes first. Period.

He isn't though. Look at some of the guys who were chosen. Green's impossible to gauge from a form perspective when it comes to club. He plays such a low level of competition, and then when it comes to international play, he had one game where he was terrible and got injured and missed several weeks of play.

Brooks had huge stretches where he struggled in the Bundlesliga. Jozy's certainly not in form based on his play the past 6 or 7 months.

He uses form when he wants and discards it when he doesn't.

I think that's kind of the point. It's not like he's a huge distraction by himself, though his presence has clearly been turned into one. The question is, can he still contribute in some capacity to the team where others cannot? Klinsmann didn't have to anoint Donovan, but I'm not sure that Donovan's usefulness to the national team has expired.

He started the season okay, so it's not like he's far removed from being a functional player.

These are my sentiments for the most part. I want to see the guys who the staff thought were the best in camp out there. Everyone acts as if the sky is falling.

There is no reason Jurgen should be fired if we don't make it out. Landon knew he was at risk of not making the 23 before camp started. He's older and we have no idea why he was excluded.

It's a bit pathetic how much people are turning on a manager who has brought a lot of success and attractive football to the table over the past year just because of one player. I guarantee you that he's seen all of the film, he's watched him play, and he knows a ton about the player Donovan is. The problem is that Donovan was having trouble in camp before the Mexico friendly and still came in a bit out of shape. He may not have been as hungry as the other players.

All of this "real fan" and "fake fan" bullshite is childish. Some people want different things for the team, but we all want to win. If this is what the coaching staff thinks is the best way to do that, I'm all in. There are 6 other players who had the same heartbreaking call.

Terrible? He may have been a bit nervous and made some bad passes, but he also made a play that should have put us in a position to win the game. He's a player who looks to score, and if he performed well enough in camp, he should be there.

No doubt. There's no way LD would be more useless than Davis.
